Please tell me EVERYTHING you know about the RC51

this is just personal preference. I find those damn things annoying as hell! I dont think it sounds like a sport-bike at all. Fast? why because it says its a 1000? Ive owned nothign but hondas since ive been riding..600's, 929, i currently own a 954. I have never had a problem out running one of those. My 929 walked it like it was standing still. Unless your getting a great deal on it..i would look for something else.

You can't tell me a bike that makes 120+hp to the wheels bone stock isn't fast. I didn't say there weren't faster bikes out there, and I never said the RC51 was the fastest. I will say for some reason I prefer the V-twin bikes over others. I'm partial to Buell to be specific.

you have to realize that the RC51 is basically like a 750, even though the engine is larger. they built that to compete with the Ducati twins that were dominating the world superbike races at the time. it's an excellent handling bike, reasonably fast... but don't expect to be faster than anything over a 750.

i agree... i dig the sound of them a lot. if you're not looking to have the fastest thing out there, it's a cool ass bike imo.

woah..relax! i said it was personal preference. 120hp is maybe what they claim..but by no means does it make that. That bike is not fast by any means. Im not saying hes looking to buy a bike for how fast it is either. You partial to buell is why our opinions are so different. The rc51 as dave mentioned is like a 750. A GSXR 750 will even glide right past an rc51 no problem. Bike dosent produce 120hp.

Search "RC51 dyno" on Yahoo or Google images. They're all right in the hundred teens/twenty range.

always believe what you hear/see online? im not here to argue about it. Ive ridden them, have buddies that own them, ect ect. PERSONAL PREFERNCE...the bikes a pig, its not fast for a 1000cc by any means.

It has a few mods, they removed the dual exhaust and put on a ridiculously loud single exhaust, and there are some other mods I can't think of.
I think they started down the right path of modding, just never completed it. It needs an aftermarket tune bad!

Does the STOCK exhaust have an O2 sensor? Reason I'm asking is it seems to be running really rich. When they put the aftermarket exhaust on it there is no O2 sensor. So I'm thinking that maybe causing the a/f condition

My sister bought it a few months ago, but she's in D.C. for a few more months and wants to store it up here in Michigan. She may be heading back to the Middle East, not returning until some time next summer/year.
I was going to finish modding it and have it tuned for her so she doesn't have to worry about it when she returns. (I'm such a good brother)
Also, it will give me something to ride next summer. :-)

She lives in Colorado Springs, so the altitude will play havok with the a/f issue. She would like to find STOCK exhaust and put it back on, trading for the aftermarket setup. She's not worried about a loss of power, just make it reasonably loud, instead obnoxiously loud as it is now.

I love the RC51. The richness can be taken care of via a power commander and have it dyno tuned.

Brighton Superbike. Hands Down. ask for James.

they are now out of rec leasure in Farmington.

as for the bike, they are kind of a pig from the factory; but can be made to handle with the best of them, and make ok power. with all the race kit upgrades. OR, you could step up to a newer literbike, have all the power, and handling now. and probably be cheaper in the long run.

ahh, read the rest of the post. Have James Tune it.

he is also a power commander authorized tuning center. Rell him Rod with the 03 R1 sent ya.

X2 for Brighton Superbike, I have been to their shop when it was in Brighton, looked like a good shop and had some awesome bikes there and heard nothing but good things about them.
