piston slap

i understand it doesn't do a ton of damage. but its driving me bonkers. i am getting sick of my car sounding like i don't take care of it..... how do you go about fixing this?

Quick Fix:
You let it warm up before you drive off somewhere. Or you can shorten your engines life by increasing the viscosity of the cold weight of oil.

Long term fix:
Replace pistons and hone cylinder walls.

Sure it's not lifters?

I'd need to borescope the motor to solidfy the conclusions about piston slap. If it does have piston slap theres a good chance it is being cuased by fuel wash on the cydliners from running rich.

It could be piston slap. It could also be snotty lifters. both are possiable.

its audible when the car is started, it goes away when the rpm's raise and the sound goes with rpm's. after 20 min it goes away. and is only heard between switching gears. just low rpm's

plugs are down. video to be uploaded shortly

Be glad you don't have a pre 2003 GM 6.0..mine piston slaps like a diesel. 126K and still running strong though! And the only fix is pistons and a hone. I've never heard a mod motor have piston slap, if it is i'd be leaning towards cylinder wash as well, maybe a bad injector. I know the lifters make some noise though.
