It sounds kinda dumb and it takes a little time, But you need to get gas anyway so you might as well try and get as much out of your dollar as possible.

So you can get 500 bonus speedy reward points if you buy a $25 speedy gift card. So I buy them all on my amex card $25 at a time to get the points, then I use the cards on gas. So I get the points on my amex card and I get the speedy points.

Every 24,500 Speedy points you get a free $25 gift card. It seams like a little bit for a lot but if you spend $150 a week on gas between you and a spouse that 6 cards a week and 24 a month. It takes 49 $25 cards to get a free one, So every other month you would get a free $25, or $150 free gas a year, Plus the points on your Amex.. Mastercard.. Visa..

I know some people have to drive a ton on here, If your diligent it might help out.

I wonder how long it would take me, the ghetto cruiser only gets filled twice a month

I actually use the amex card everywhere possible then I use the amex app on my phone to pay it right after I use it, lol.

When the Speedway first opened up at my house the girls who work there would automatically grab the gift card and ring it up for me to buy gas and get the extra points.

Have racked up over 700000 points from my work truck (which the company pays for) and personal car. Buying the gas card definitely adds up. I have cashed in $750 in gift cards.

do you get the 3 cents off a gallon with the gift card? I use the blue gas card and get 3 cents off

Over the course of how much time? Assuming one year or less?

So you have to spend 49 X $25 = $1225 on gas to get a $25 gift card.

A lot of credit cards offer some % back on gas purchases. For example, my on my Costco Amex card it is 3%. If you spend $1225 on gas and just pay with the Amex card at the pump, you would get $36.75 Amex cash back.

Having said all that, I guess it comes out pretty much the same becuase I get 1% cash back from Amex on any purchase, like gift cards etc. So on the $1225 I would get $12.25 from Amex and a $25 gift card using your method. Its just less of a hassle to pay at the pump with the Amex card.

My amex is 2% across the board. If they hit me with a deal for a month with 3% Id do the quick math. So I get 2% plus the points.

I guess all that matters is people are hustling out there to get the most for the dollar.
