PayPal question

I just signed up for my first PayPal account. I'm going to sell someone out of state some parts either tonight or tomorrow. I am selling exactly what I described and have no worries about misleading anyone. I'm selling 2 new parts in their boxes. That is what he is expecting to receive from me. I've heard horror stories of people sending their items they have sold, and having the buyer file a dispute or charge back. Usually resulting in screwing the seller out of their parts and their money. Any advice for a newbie?

Take pictures with your login name and date written on a piece of paper next to the parts. Once items are shipped, take pictures of the tracking number to attach to the PayPal transfer.
Do insure the items for the total costs involved. Follow up to buyer with an email to ensure satisfaction, which also indicates items received.

Are you selling through eBay?

If not only accept Palpay as a gift, friends & family. There is no recourse on his part.
Sell as is, no returns, no exchanges, no refunds.

Or accept USPS money order only. Ship only after funds have cleared / confirmed.

I've sold thousands of items & have never had a "horror story".

Somebody is going to have to trust someone, for me, I know I'm honest, so the buyer
is going to have to trust me.

If you have a good credit card linked to PayPal none of that matters. Every dispute I've had (3) I call my credit card company and file dispute. They tell me not even to contact PayPal they will handle. And they do.

Pays to have a good card.

No. Selling to someone on Facebook in a race parts page. I asked if he wanted to send as a gift or what he wanted to do about the fees. He said he would pay them, and I agreed to pay for the shipping. He mentioned in his words "With fees, just to be protected on my end." I told him I understand and then gave him my PayPal email. Supposed to send funds tomorrow. I told him when I see the money I'll take them to UPS and take pictures and send him the tracking numbers right away.

I elected not to link a card or account at the time. I am undecided on how I want to retrieve the money. PayPal says they can send me a check for $1.50 cost to me, which is not a big deal. Or I suppose I could link a bank account and transfer it that way. I'm just super sketchy on someone buying stuff from me and then them filling a charge back or claiming they never received parts. I've always heard PayPal or CC companies like to side with the purchaser.

How do I attach the tracking numbers to the PayPal transfer if I'm not the one transferring any money?

Be very careful, there are a ton of scams going on right now.

One of them is the purchaser will send you a "Paypal" looking
receipt to your email (pretending to be Paypal) & expect you to
ship the item (when it really hasn't been paid for, but looks like it has).

"With fees, just to be protected on my end." - which of course,
doesn't protect you on your end.

Like I said, someone is going to take the risk, I prefer it to be
the other guy.

I understand. I just want to safeguard myself as best as I can. It's only about $1,000. But I'm trying to use the money to finish paying off hospital bills from when my son was born a few months ago. After my awesome insurance picked up their portion, my portion was almost $3,500. How long should I leave the money in my PayPal account before I withdraw it?

F paypal as a seller! USPS money order only for larger transactions. I've stopped selling larger items through paypal and ebay...... 6 month return window, get ready to be abused like the costco return policy. Your credit card company will protect you when you are the buyer, but as a seller you have no protection. I have over 2,329 sales to date through ebay, and have had plenty of chargebacks and returns which were bogus. My general rule now is, if I cant afford to loose the item or the value of it I will not sell it using paypal. It has definitely hurt my sales, but has saved a lot of frustration.

Ask yourself if you are going to be pissed loosing $1,000 in auto parts or cash and then decide on how you want to accept paypment. You will BOTH be protected if you use a postal money order. You can cash it right at the post office (have to wait until later in the day and go to a larger post office so they have the cash in the drawer). And the buyer can enlist the USPS police if you dont send the item.

if youre selling it on facebook. have them send it via facebook pay. im not sure if they have any recourse much like paypal does. ive sent thousands through there so far and its much faster hitting your bank account

i also have been screwed using paypal. so i prefer to only buy using it. not receive
