Passkey fault on '94 Caprice

Yesterday after work, I went to start my Caprice and the passkey fault light came on. Not blinking, just solid-on. The car wasnt cranking but all of the accessories came on. After a couple of minutes, the light went out and the car started up fine. This morning before work, I had the same issue...waited a couple of minutes, light goes out, and the car starts. I forgot to mention, the same thing happened yesterday morning, but it was much more brief...just a few seconds then the car started just fine. What could be causing this? Ive read in my instance, it could be a loose battery connection or a worn key. Any workarounds for this?

Tighten the battery connections and get a new key? :dontknow:

Of course. Im just seeing if theres anything additional that could be causing the trouble.

EDIT: This is pretty new to me...just trying to get some good advice from those in the know ;).

Broken wire in the column is real common on that style, you can fix it with a 99 cent resistor from radio shack

I think I read something about that. Dont I measure the resistance of the pellet, then jumper the wire between the VATS and lock cylinder with a resistor of the same value as the pellet?

measure the resistance of the pellet, then with a resistor of the same size(something like 5% different works), find the orange wire under the dash, coming out of the column, you will find a black plug in it, cut the orange wire a couple inches from the plug on the column side, unplug, then peel the orange covering back, you will see 2 white wires, install the resistor between the 2 wires, plug back in, tie up, all set
