Check out the video, where they change the color of a car via vinyl wrap.

Never seen a whole car done before. Looked pretty cool. How much does a full wrap like this cost? How long would it typically last before it started to fade/discolor?

Would this be cost-competitive versus painting?

Full wraps are great until you open your doors and the jams are a different color and the gloss level depending on materials used can be not the best, full wraps like that using 3m materials would cost 3-5k it's very labor intensive and what you don't see is the actual time lapse, fade/discolor/stone chip/peel back all depends on your driving habits and the climate, cost competitive not really you just have the ability to save your original finish when you pull all that stuff off.

I've never seen a wrap that I could say "Hey, I'd do that to my car". You just can't get the high gloss look of paint

i agree, it'll never look as good as paint, or anywhere near it. but if i had a brand new car, i'd have it wrapped so that when it was time to sell i'd have minty paint. black door jams and engine bay wouldn't bother me that much.

Where do u get huge sheets of flat black vinyl like that? My car is square enough ill bet I could do it and look good

I think it would look like ass. You open the door or pop the hood and see all the jams in a different color, ew
