Overspray Removal

so heres the deal, recently did some paint work on my car and the jackass that taped it off did a shitty job not to mention the booth had shitty ventilation, anyways i have overspray all over my wheels and my front fenders. :( ive tried claybar and effin cleaner waxes and had some luck with the claybar but its a very slow process...any one know any other ways to get this shit off that wont take hours upon hours but at the same time wont screw my clearcoat up??

sometimes i can just take a wheel with a wool pad and some wizards finish cut and wheel it off. other times i'll take a rag with some lacquer thinner and losen it up or even wipe it right off, then go back over it with the wheel and compound (as wiping your car with thinner will make it haze up and dull)

Clay bar is the best bet, well worth the effort.

clay is certainly best but sometimes you just need something more aggressive. Josh "blackbirdws6zzzZz" had some overspray from inadequate taping on his car when i polished it out and the clay did nothing for it. but the wheel took it right off

I agree, if it is excessive then you need more extreme measures :D

yeah my only problem with the wheel is that i dont know wtf im doing with one and I dont trust any of my buddies to do it. i dont wanna burn through the clearcoat and then really be fucked

I don't think TJ would appreciate you calling him a jackass.

We racin' tomorrow or what?

well tj doesnt now how to use a computer let alone surf the web so im not concerned about that. The point is I have a nice car and he did a shitty masking job..end of story.

Why dont you just bring it to the track??? We can race legally and I will bring slicks.......and cash

Lots of good suggestions here, but start with the lightest form of removal first, then move up if they don't work. I've used, just compound, or lacuer thinner and a rag, or wet sanding and compound...etc...

He did the job for free, didn't he? what do you expect?

I was at the strip last time racing TJ, you wouldn't even run em.
You were sitting in the grandstands, taking video. :shake:

If you could make it out to port huron one weekend and bring it by i could help clean it up off the fenders for ya.

It was his idea to paint it...im not sayin the paint doesnt look good cause it does look good....he just didnt tape it off right therefore there is overspray all over it...is that supposed to make me happy?

Yeah well the car isnt tuned and I have street tires and we all know street tires = spin....If you knew a damn thing about cars you would know that lean mixture = a burnt up fuckin motor thats why I need a tune before I beat thew shit out of it, its common sense not an excuse...I'd rather wait for a tune then waste my time racing your "daily driven race car with no muffler" I have much more time and money invested in my car....I did all the work myself i didnt just buy it and brag about it. :ls1:
:buttkick:

thanks for the suggestions guys....im gonna try the claybar once more...and if that dont work I guess I will be laerning how to wheel

You did all the work to your car and it still can't beat a Stock LS1 (If you knew a damn thing about cars, you'd get your car tuned)

Ryan was just over today, said your cars running rich, your scared, and most likely have N2o hooked up already.

26.6mpg DD race car if i might add. :ls1:

I'm not bragging, but you thought your car was fast, so I figured I'd show you the taillights.

your car is far from a race car....and one day when you learn how to work on it...maybe it will be
lol when i raced you the day after i put it together it was a damn close race first race from a roll you pulled a little second race from a stop i blew you out of the water tire spin or no tire spin...that was the only time we raced.....and yes i pulled the plugs this time and it seems to being running ok compared to when i checked them before its a bit rich but better then lean..and ryan knows im not scared never scared of an lsSLOW and where did you get i have the bottle hooked up from??
