Disclaimer: Hope you're bored, because this is a lengthy read.....
Saturday started off pretty well. Got to sleep in, went to Bry’s niece’s 2nd b-day party and got to see his adorable niece Isabelle and his precious nephew Landyn (2 mos old!). Later we went to the fair and to see the big fireworks display in Bay City. Afterward, we walked to one of Bry’s friend’s houses to chill & have a few beverages; then another where we got to see all the traffic leaving BC and tease all the ricers- even saw a guy on crotch rocket rear end another showing off, and then throw his bike down & jump on it, haha; then another- someone Bry’s friend worked with. This last stop was where things started to go downhill.
We weren’t there 5 mins and Bry tries to get me to drink more (I only had 2 Smirnoff coolers), and then their friend’s wife gets on me….so I snap back saying I don’t want to drink, someone has to be sober and will you please back off- which resulted in us both being a little riled up. Anyway, we chill there for a while, Bry and his friends drink and get some food. Then, while Bry was in the house, his two friends sat on this swing thing that was located right in front of their pool, and they casually rock back & forth while talking to the wife. Then all the sudden that stupid swing breaks, falls backward with Bry’s 2 friend in it, and punctures a HUGE hole in the side of the pool. Water is gushing out, Bry’s friends are stuck in the chair under the water fall and the wife looks pissed. She runs inside, Bry’s friends manage to get up and then another of their friends shows up. This is just in time for the dude who owns the house to come out belligerent and he about clocks the friend who just arrived and had NOTHING to do with the incident- which was a complete accident anyway. The dude tells the new kid to leave, and one of the guys that was in the chair bails with him. The other guy stays and is trying to stop the leak, and by now I’m standing on top of a chair with my pants rolled up, cooler on shoulder & flip flops in hand just waiting for Bry to come out so we can bail. They tried to calm the dude down, but he just told us to leave as well. I can understand him being upset, but Jesus Christ it was an accident- no one was fooling around.
So, anyway…the 3 of us start walking back to where Bry’s parked…which was no small walk and Bry’s shoes were soaked, his friend was wet from the shoulders down practically and I’m just plain annoyed. We agreed to call it a night and to drop his friend off since his g/f got mad at him and left with his car. We get to the truck, Bry sets the cooler down in the front passenger seat to grab some dry shorts for his friend, and the cooler leaks all over the front seat. So, here we are, his friend in the back seat, me in the middle front which is as far forward as it will go so his friend is comfortable in the front, my knees are banging the dashboard and Bry behind the wheel. I had given up arguing with him that I should drive, I’d seen him more drunk before…I wasn’t THAT concerned.
The night was not over yet. As we’re on our way to drop his friend off, we get stopped at an intersection right by a Bay County Sheriff’s car (he had right lane, we had left). That cop looked over at me and gave me a nasty glare I just turned away. The minute the light turns green and we get through the intersection, he flips on his lights and we pull over. It was awkward and the cop was a jerk from the get-go. I had to move so Bry could get his license and registration which was in the center console. He asked Bry had he been drinking and how much, made some rude comments- the usual for BCPD. I really thought he would be ok, but not so much. The jerk-cop made him get out of the car and do all the field sobriety tests…which he passed and then the breathalyzer- which he did not. So, the cop has Bry get me. Apparently he told him if I was sober, he wouldn’t arrest him. I’ve never before had to endure any of this, so I’m nervous, pissed and worried about Bryan. Luckily, my 2 Smirnoff’s 3 hours or so prior were out of my system, b/c I blew a .000. Bry didn’t come out of this clean, but he is DAMN lucky he didn’t get a DUI. For the record, I think the drunken driving laws are ridiculous, but I’ve always tried to respect them anyway because I don't want to feed the system with my hard earned money. I wish I had been more adamant about driving, but honestly this was a lesson Bryan needed to learn, I’m just glad I was there so it didn’t turn out worse for him.
