should be no reason to pull the head....mods are famous for that. use the tool and put a new plug and coil in. good to go

The COP cover kept everything inside the valve cover but thats a good probability. I'm worried about debris getting thrown into the combustion chamber so the heads are coming off tomorrow.
What tool?
I dunno, I'm just worried about it...

I just don't know. I don't want to throw everything back together and have it not be the issue...
How much is this quick fix thread repair? I might give it a shot.

you could probably use a bore scope to see if any pieces of the plug fell in.

Eric, I wouldnt pull the head if i were you. 1999-2003 5.4 liters have the same issue commonly called the "spark plug poppers" Its happened in a couple of the work trucks. from what we have gathered thrue the dealer is the heads dont have enough thread to hold the plug under hard condtions (boost or just working the shit out of them). We took a small vacum and made a tube to suck any shavings out. Also we were told that the alum. shavings from the thread that we may have missed would be so small and minimal that they'd burn off.
WE used the tool on two of the plugs, sucked out what we could and went with it. Never had another related issue. After it was working we did enough bitching at suburban for and got a entire new long block installed for 1800.
