I just did this on my truck. It took me all of 10 minutes to take off the idler, take the seals off, re-grease it and put it back on.

Just thought i'd share as this just saved me $40. :D

1) I have Idler pulleys from $16-$20

When the puller starts squeaking it's cause it's lost the grease inside the bearings... The reason behind that is the bearings get out of round and wear out the seal and looses the grease... The only thing you really did was a band aid fix...

I just replaced the idler about a year ago and it started making noise this past week. It couldn't have been too bad, plus it saved me a trip to the parts store :)

I have repacked squeeky idler bearings on several occasions on my DD and toy.......works great and is free.
