No Heat! 91 explorer

the blower works, but the air is cold to barely lukewarm, and fluctuates as i am driving, when i say lukewarm it not even that really. what the hell could it be? its cold out! i topped of the coolant..... could it be the stat?

and why did my post count go back to ZERO?

yea, up to "L" in "NORMAL" then back to "N" then back to "L" you get the idea, not fast, but up and down

is it full of coolant? is yes, I'd replace the thermostat and pull the hoses off the heater core and flush it out(garden hose if its not frozen, low pressure compressed air if needed)

I'd have to agree with 82bird.....had the same problem...flushed it several times and core was still restricted. If money is tight, i was told to take the core out and run C.L.R. through it....any opinions?????

t-stat spring sounds weak. opens as pump flow increases with rpm then closes. does it heat up more at idle?

no extra heat at idle, will get a stat tomorrow and pull the heater core hoses. thanks guys i will report back

might be a vac line off under the hood.the flap that changes the heat from cold to hot runs off the engine vac

anthony does your temp gauge get hot so it is showing engine temp

no, goes to "l" in normal, then back to "n"

didnt try to flush the core yet, am going to try tonight, its cold out and i had to thaw the hose

quit messing around in the cold and replace the heater core!! flushing is only a temp fix anyways.......replacing it is the only way to cure your problem.
