next big thing to kill people on the water...

That's not new but it is fucking insane. And I have seen places that already have it banned.

Wego Kite Tube. Not new. Not banned AFAIK in Michigan, but the primary distributor for the product pulled it off the shelf earlier this summer citing "safety concerns".

Fox 2 News did a story on them a few months back...Even though im not a lake fan. ( some of you know why ) That looks like fun as hell!

Holy hell that boat was MOVING too. No thanks, cant trust anyone, people are to stupid to own one of those.

that looks awesome. the second video is so much better. You get pretty high it seems.

I'd do it at least once...maybe again if I didn't get injured/die from the first ride.

I dont know why the makers of the product are being blamed for anything. The product should not be banned, the fucking morons that pull people at 60 mph on a lake should be locked up. I mean a fucking toothpick can be deadly if your a fucking moron with it.

I would jump on the "dont ban them" bandwagon and file this one under natural population control  but, the person riding is really at the mercy of the boat driver. And yea 99% are too dumb to have one.

those things are a blast but dangerous. we bought one on ebay, the manta ray made by sevlor, the one with wings, has like a 10 foot wing span, nuts.

buddy had a bash at his cottage and we bought one, used it for the week and sold it right after the party on ebay again and with good reason.

the thing will not get airborne for any time until about 50mph or so, of course I was driving and keep getting the thumbs up from the rider and I am in a V8 300 horsepower boat, fun for me, not so fun for them.

they were getting around 10 feet-15 feet of air for up to maybe 20-30 seconds and then things turned ugly, I dumped my 1 buddy at 55mph and he landed on the side of his face, swam to the boat and blood was coming out of his ear, blew his noise and his ear started to bubble, that's interesting. Blew his eardrum right out.

hour later different guy on it, me driving again, he takes a plunge at 55mph (giving my thumbs up for more speed until liftoff) and fractures 2 of his ribs, laid up hard for a month.

1 guy died around here on 1, I've heard of the nutbars yanking at 70-80mph and then shoots up like a kite. sold the thing the next week and that's my story.

Wiping out at 40mph cracking the whip on skis or wakeboard is one thing when you are at the waters surface, being dumped 15 feet in the air at 55mph is a different (painfull) game.

stay safe, haha, put a vid on youtube of the rib guy hitting the water, see if I can find it and post it up here.

ouch! :( If you can't get air untill 50mph, no thanks. Thats way past the safe limit to smack the water.

Yeah at that speed the water is not soft. Hell I used to wipe out slalom skiing at like 25-30mph and barrel roll on top of the water until I slowed down enough to sink in. And that hurt! I don't want to imagine 50+!!. I bet most of the problem is lack of understanding. I imagine a pilot would be able to control the craft with some level of competancy. But someone that doesn't know aerodynamics well would crash and burn. And it would appear that they do crash hard. Ouch!

I have gotten thrown off a tube at like 40mph tops and it beat me up pretty bad, i cant imagine falling 10-15 feet out of the air and hitting water at a forward speed of 50+mph, your just plain stupid. Sure people might be able to learn how to do it safely, but nobody can control the wind thats on the lakes and thats where shit would go wrong....15 feet up in the air, 50mph, and a 20 mph crosswind catches you..byebye
