New Truck, lowered 3/5 with questions

Just picked up this 99 Dakota R/T.
Keep in mind I have no prior experience with lowering anything (unless you count swapping from Sb to BB in my charger as "lowering it")

Its dropped 3" in the front and 5" in the rear, I know the R/T's were 1"/2" lower than a stock Dakota so i'm not sure if this makes it 4/7 than a regular Dakota or what.

I assumed a lowered truck would ride rougher than stock but it rides like shit. I can only assume its from it riding on the front bumpstops. Am i safe to cut them down or get lower ones?
Is it too low to get a decent ride?
Is there anyway to ID the kit used?

Are you on stock shocks? If so they aren't built to ride at that height. Also, the stock bumpstops are probably also too long. Look and see what normally comes in the kit.

Shocks are Gabriel Sensa-Tracs, I do not see a lowering shock on their site so i'm guessing not.

Should be good?
Looking at random lowering kits some come with new bumpstops some do not...

holy saltlick...wash that fucker off. It will be rotted out before you know it

Heh, its clean now!

some vehicles sit on the stops all the time. add spring rate
I cant see anything cause the pics are too big

I cut the bumpstop halfway down, and its like night and day even with just 1/2"-3/4" travel.
:buds:
thanks all

Did you mess with the shocks?? Because the lower the shock the harder the ride. Plus you have increased tire wear also.

sensatracs are shit also

I think you both hit it square on, using the sensatrac's on a truck lower than 2 inches puts them at their harshest "setting" according to gabriel. I've got springs from a stock Regular Cab R/T that I will replace them with and also 2" Dropped LCA's. This will allow me to run a stock length non-shitty shock and still give me adequate suspension travel without worrying about ruining my fenders.
