Let me start my saying, my Dad is awesome... I emailed him asking him to look for a good deal on a compact impact and a torque wrench (he works for Grainger)... then he emails me and tells me I can go pick up my 'early bday & Xmas presents' on Friday!

Over the last few years he has also given me... a full set of wrenches & sockets, cordless drill & bits, saw, screwdrivers and trouble light.

I am thinking that all I need now is a jack, some jack stands and a nice tool chest...

Can you guys think of anything else that I might need that you use commonly? Thanks!

I would suggest a hammer.... but you're not working on a FORD. :D

An extendable magnet, like a pick up pen, is always handy to have when you're working in tight spaces. Great for when you drop screws and such.

X2!!!!!

i have always said that is one of the best tools you can have in your tool box. i we have like 3 or 4 different sizes of them, they have saved my ass on many many occasions! lol

your lucky, i asked my dad for some air tools and he gave me his worn out harbor slut shit while he has 3 roll arounds packed to the top with shit. take care of them and they will take care of you.

Actually I don't have a hammer... BTW, if your TBSS ever won't start, trying whacking the starter w/one... let's just say I learned that little trick after having to wait 4 hours to get my development vehicle towed to work.

That just screams quality right there.

She also said "if you ever can't get your TBSS to start" which leads me to believe the specs of the starter 'upgrade' didn't make it to the supplier before the vehicle hit production. ;)

OK ninja edit.

Well at least now I know to pistol whip the starter when it doesnt start.

(oldest trick in the book BTW)

I have about $30K worth. When we finalize the wedding plans you can use some of my tools

hahahaha, +1

i'm not gonna hate on my collection of ford wrenches, tho.

how many fuckin hammers do you own? or is it hand grenades?

but i agree a nice magnet is the BEST tool you will EVER own. personal/home projects can easily be done with hand tools. air just makes it easier depending on your garage set up. if your like me where everything breaks every 5 min. then hand tools are your best friend. other than that air tools are a good investment.

then theres always the garage fridge investment, but what do i know? i just got back from another otooles mug night. :_slide_:
