That is the biggest problem with buses, it takes soooooo long.
I tried it once, never again. Much easier to do a one-way car rental.

The second problem is, they put those bus stations in the most horrible
places they can find! The buses tend to have a certain "clientele" as well.

3/4 of the problem with
(certain "clientele" )
is Greyhound and the shit show they have let it become ....
100 % of our fleet is less than 5 years old ... and it stays that way ... the coaches are cleaned daily ... compared to the ( dog ) and their ( roach ) coaches ...

thats still 20 hours...on a bus....not counting any delays. No thanks!

Where are you getting 20 hours? It looks like about 7 with the time change.

Honestly this doesn't seem like a bad deal. $260 round trip for two. If you stay at a decent hotel downtown, it will cost you that to park for 5 days anyways. Plus, if you need a car while you do Chicago, you are doing it wrong.

Because I wasnt paying attention and thought those were stops on the route

I think it would work better if the website suggested certain locations. I just picked what was closest to my house in Clarkston, so Flint or Pontiac to Chicago was $150-185. If it suggested Detriot or Southfeild to Chicago for $45 that would be way better.

I'm assuming there is free parking on site for cars?

free parking in pontiac.. southfield ...and flint ...

one of the losses of purchasing a ticket on line is that you loose the ticket agent saying ... what station connects at what time ...I've picked many passengers in pontiac to drop them offf at the detroit station only to have to wait several hours for their next bus to leave ... not every station is a ( hub ) like detroit

same goes for most cities that we serve through out the state ... we service cities like Mt Pleasant ,Traverse City ,Bay City ,& Big Rapids with only 1 bus going north & 1 going south ...each day
