New Free Informational Service USPS....

A new free informational service from The United States
Postal Service.

The USPS will now offer a free service for those who sign up,
where every day you will receive an email that shows you the
mail you will be receiving that day or the next day.

Your mail will not be opened, no contents shown or read.
existing technology allows the Post Office to provide this service
for no additional cost or work. You would need to sign up and
prove your identity, it will show you all the mail being delivered
to your address.

Your mail is already being photographed, since 9-11. They just
now are sharing it with you - if you choose.

Signing up was a little confusing (to me anyway). I think I’m
registered, I guess I won’t know until I receive some mail and
or perhaps it take a little time for the service to start.

If you sign up, please post it up here & let us know how it
went & how long before you actually saw your mail.

This is why I insist on discreet packaging:

But seriously - I don't need them to take pictures of my mail .. I need them to throw it all away.

I recently returned home from being abroad for a week.. Had a big ass stack of mail. Not a single item that didn't get put in the trash before being opened.

If you suspect someone is tampering with your mail and you are expecting important mail, this might help in some way. I can't imagine needing it myself.

Same. Everything I get is online. Everything else is garbage.

I need this so I don't accidentally throw away things like Menards rebates sent in the form of post cards. Almost did that recently. Would know to look for it in the mail if they told me it was there. Because most mail is garbage, it would be nice to get a notification that something there isn't' garbage, LOL.

How about a service where I pay $5 a month and they stop delivering me shit... That way all I get is important stuff.

Today 50% of my mail said current resident.

Im wondering if I could replace my mailbox on the street with a trash can... :)

I could use my mailbox on the hood of my car, that would benefit me more!

Stopping junk Mail....

"The Direct Marketing Association's (DMA) Mail Preference Service (MPS) lets you opt out of receiving unsolicited commercial mail from many national companies for five years. When you register with this service, your name will be put on a "delete" file and made available to direct-mail marketers and organizations. This will reduce most of your unsolicited mail. However, your registration will not stop mailings from organizations that do not use the DMA's Mail Preference Service. To register with DMA's Mail Preference Service, go to www.dmachoice.org, or mail your request with a $1 processing fee to:"

With regards to junkmail, I don't care if I get it. It costs some company money to send it out, and that goes to the USPS to have someone keep their job. Doesn't take much for me to toss it in the garbage.
