New Ford quality that bad?

Anyone else have a new Ford that has just been terrible? This 2015 Escape has been one of the worst cars that I have owned in 10 years.

I had a thread about the trans in this thing that still wasn't fixed(pending lemon buy back) now the trans is flaring between shifts and last week I took it in and they are saying the timing chain is rattling.

Have I just been lucky enough to get the bad one off the lot? This Escape is due to be bought back next week or so and I can't say if I'd buy another Ford at this point.

Anyone else with similar problems?
 
Depends 1000% on the dealer you bought it from, how your ownership experience will be.

Have I had fords with issues? Yep, but my dealer fixed them instantly. Without question or hassle

That is a good point, had this car not sat at the dealer for 34 days while they tried to figure out the trans issues I will probably feel different about it.

Current day this Escape has 3000 miles on it and something seems to break every month or so.
 
I have a 2012 Focus and the only problem has been the audio control module died and caused a draw and drain the battery over night. It was not a fun happy processes as Seeley in Kalamazoo took forever to even acknowledged the car was there for work then took even longer to work on the car.
 
I dont think the quality is below the industry standard at the moment. Every car company has a ton of recalls/issues with the current lineups and some older models. Ford is pushing its limits trying to get new vehicles out as soon as possible to keep up with the market. I have heard a few people having issues with the transmissions on some but as mentioned above, mostly it is dealer related in the way that they handle the issues.

I was chatting with my lemon lawyer about it, he was saying he see's a lot of the 13-15 Ford Escape/Fusions. I don't keep up with the new platforms and such but from what I gather '13 was the new platform for those 2 cars. Lawyer said he is working on 5 or 6 Escape lemons this month, all trans issues.
 
Escapes that use the 6f35 6 speeds turn the fluid black in about 10k miles (at least all of the escapes I have seen). They also have a apply piston/center support that fails/breaks-they sell a updated version (I'm sure the 2015 has updates to fix these problems). Valve body's wear out/solenoids get sticky and cause bind ups & flairs.
That basic design transmission was a joint venture with GM & Toyota? and Ford. Each one is slightly different in design. The GM's has a cushion inside that breaks and causes failure (pretty common) .... they updated the cushion in the later years. Not sure if Toyota version has problems ( I dont wk on them)
Expensive transmission to repair/overhaul.

Mine is a '15, originally when they tore it apart they found glazed forward clutches at 700 miles. Replaced those, was good for about 3 days. Took it back and they found metal in the pan second time.
 
my experience with my 12 focus has been pretty bad. so bad that i can't imagine i'll ever buy another ford, and i was a ford guy.
 
It's a shame your dealer hasn't done more for you. I think we've talked about your experience so far. Hopefully you can get it fixed with the buy back. Unfortunately Ford has problems just like everyone else, it's how the problems are taken care of that makes the difference. That's why car manufactures have dealerships.

I know there is going to be a bad one, I guess I was just the lucky one. The frustration level is off the chart with this Escape, to develop timing chain issues recently hasn't helped.

My lawyer has advised me not to let any Ford dealer do any repairs to it at this point, with the civil suit if I let them work on it could hurt the law suit.
 
My dad had tons of problems with his Ford focus and its auto transmission. Crest Ford in Centerline wouldn't do crap to fix it for months. Finally my old man took his to Elder, they fixed it in two days. Its been good ever since. No other issues with the car. Ford upped his full coverage warranty to 100k for his trouble.
 
My 14 ST has been great so far. Some small issues but nothing that would keep me from buying another Ford.

just a little more info re my 12 focus

in just over 4 years i've had the following replaced

shifter (5-speed)

transmission rebuilt (5-speed)

power steering assembly

a/c compressor

seems like a lot of parts to fail on a car that was purchased new in aug 2011, also my dealership experiences have been awful.
 
Ford isn't the only company with issues I work at advance auto we have two chevy sonics that have been junk dealer bound beaters the entire time we have had them one had a bad miss fire at 8k miles. Now we have a 2015 Colorado been to dealer already with 5k miles power steering electronic assist went out and the driver seat was barely bolted down which I guess is a recall.
