I am looking to add a rear tire carrier mounted on a swingout spindle for my FJZ80. I've looked at the full bumpers with swingouts and just can't bring myself to spend $2000+ on a bumper. Looking for recommendations/offers/etc. PM me or post up your experiences with anybody you might recommend. Looking at MM vendors first, but all ideas considered.
A few of the 80 guys have gone this route:

Remove rear bumper cover and weld on mounting point:
Cut hole in bumper cover, mount spindle, remount cover:
Actual swingout:
Tire mount on swingout arm:
Latch:
I don't need the extra arm this guy added for the license plate
NOTE: I would really love to learn how to weld. Anybody who knows what they are doing, who wouldn't mind an afternoon of work, with me hanging around and even trying my hand at making some ugly welds... that would be awesome. I'm willing to pay for the work and for the time spent showing me some stuff! I want to learn, but also don't want to have my tire bouncing down the highway at 70mph because I don't know what I'm doing.
