Need some serious help/advice with Google photos. Paging Tin (and anyone else who uses Google)

So I just got back into town from my honeymoon. On said honeymoon I took a crap ton of pictures with my phone (stock Pixel XL). Anyway, I made a new folder for the pics, moved them all over to it, then made another folder for the good ones I wanted to keep. I moved all the good pictures into that folder, and when I woke up the next morning, both folders only have 3 pictures in them. I have no clue where all my pictures went. Any advice? I'm kinda upset.

Do you have auto backup turned on? It should be in the settings for Google Photos on your phone. I have it set to do it over wifi only.

It was off, but I switched it on. Still nothing. I'm going to go to the Verizon store & see if I can get some help. I just don't understand how they can disappear without me deleting them.

I just downloaded Google photos on my tablet and signed in. The pics aren't there either. Strangely, there are more there than what's on my phone though...

I haven’t had an Android in a long time, does it have an SD card you can put into a computer to check it? I can recommend a recovery program it it’s an SD card

Nothing in the trash. Some of the pictures are in a photo album Google felt the need to make for me, but not all of them. I was able to download them from that album, but I'm still missing a lot of pics.

I installed solid explorer, still nothing.

I haven't tried viewing them on a desktop or laptop, I can try that.

I wrote them off. They're gone. I'm going to try to get over to the Verizon store this week, but I'm not banking on anything.

That's strange. I use Google Photos exclusively and even have my wifes iPhone uploading to it as well. I've never had pictures disappear.

Exactly why I don't upload shit....local only. The cloud is just some else's hard drive and computer....I'd rather have them in mine.

Thank you for keeping it local. we wouldn't want all those photos of the man's junk floating around the interweb.... ;) haha
