need some opinions on this car.

Looks like a stout package. You gotta love some LSpowa! Im building a simular set up now. Trading the boat?
 
What kind of HP can a stock short block take are the heads any good ect. Its a street car but would like to know are the easy to fix or big bucks ect Thanks.
 
thats actually not a bad package for 10,500.. the stock motors can take 6-650 depending on the tune.. i have seen them make more and also make less before they break.. but its all about the tune.. the heads are a good set, engine is an iron block so its better then an ls1 itself..

as long as the care itself is in good shape.. its a good deal

Plan on dropping a couple 2 - 3 grand on a 9" or 12 bolt to replace that stock 10 bolt it has. Those rear axles blow up in 11 sec cars

true however if you just want to street drive it and not spray the piss out of it at the track and launch it hard.. just put a aftermarket diff cover on and it'll help out alot and be able to take a lot more abuse. and those are only like 200 bucks tops
 
Sorry. Read up on them rear ends if u don't have any exp with them. It not having a trans brake will help, but I'm sure you'll want to change that later
 
Thanks guys im not sure if its what i want really. Might put the boat on Craigslist never sold anything on there. Its been in the high 70s low 80s down here so maybe that will help get cash for it...
 
Actually seems kind of high in this market for being a stock lower end. I HIGHLY doubt it is making 450rwhp. A LQ9 with heads/cam going through a TH350 isn't going to make that. I'd say closer to 400.


You could spend 12-14k and get a very clean car thats already built. The two biggest upgrades on these cars is the rear end and shortblock. This guy took a LQ9, put heads/cam on it and sprays the piss out of it. Nothing special.
 
Here is my $.02 as a current and long time F body owner:

He removed the aluminum engine and 4 speed trans to install an iron engine and 3 speed trans? To me that is going backwards.

The heads he put on it are only meh...... With that 3 speed it will be at high RPMs on the highway and drink gas
 
I don't agree that the iron block is better than an ls1. IMO that combo is not the best. The rear end is garbage, might as well put that in the dumpster right away. I am very surprised that the rear end would even live through the launch shown in the pic.....that might be a different rear end in it now.

It's got no overdrive, so it's not really a daily driver, but it doesn't have the parts to be a strip car until you change the rear end. It has a TH350 with no brake? I can't see anywhere he has actually put any money in this car. I think it's worth less than a stock one.

My 10 bolt has lived through a few 1.51 60's. Shortly after I left the track it makes god awful noises when going around corners. :lol:


To the OP, if you can spend a little more. You can get a nice built turbo/blower car with full suspension, rear end, fuel, etc. It really is worth the little extra money to spend now. Especially if you can find one that has a nice shortblock with aftermarket casting heads.
 
Thanks guys im going to pass on it because i dont want/ need a money pit and not a real big on the f body. It wasnt going to be a cash deal he wanted to trade for my boat.
