So I blew my head gaskets and the motor is out and I'm want to clean up the engine bay while I have room. My car has no emissions on it and I want to get rid of everything that I don't need to make it run, anyone have experience with this? Or know of a good write up? Thanks

Ok, I'm picking one up and gona finish pulling the harness out today if I run into a problem ill post it. Thanks

The only thing you really need to get rid of is the wiring to the connectors on the back of the passenger side strut tower. There is a few solenoids that are related to the emissions bs. I tucked my entire harness and only had to extend my MAF wires and the wires going to the master cylinder

You can also hope that Mitch will come over and help! Thats what i'm hoping for :headbang:

What?? your wiring looked so nice  It's pretty easy, just take everything from the inside and move it outside.. Might have to add a lil wire to some stuff but it is pretty easy.

Jmb19 no problem, do you plan on doing a full tuck? I'm shaving the bay and gona try to do a full tuck but ill see how it goes.

Eventually that is whatI want to do. I'm going to pull the motor soon for a clean, paint, and gasket job but, I do want to drive it this summer so, I don't know how far I'll get.

Lol this all started with a blown head gasket (one weekend job) now its a wire tuck shave the bay and paint it, clutch & flywheel and hope to have it driving in a week or two

It's pretty easy. You can undo the harnesses and run them into the fenders from behind the strut towers and in front of the headlight panel. That'll take care of most of them, and you can do the hood latch release cable in the same manner. Back when I did mine the only things that needed to be lengthened were the AC relay plug, battery cables (to route them the way I wanted), and a couple vacuum hoses. The toughest part was hiding the starter solenoid and all the corresponding wires. I didn't lengthen any so it made for a pain in the ass to fit everything safely and out of the way so I could put the fenderwell back in place. If you want to lengthen those wires you'd probably save yourself some time and a headache.

Thanks ozz, that's what I'm trying to do, how did you get the harness in the fender? Did you have them come through the fire wall in the stock location and then through the hole in the fender wall?(for driver side), for the engine harness did you cut a hole behind the motor in the firewall? Or how did you run this? Thanks

I had to enlarge a hole or two that was already in the sheet metal in order to fit the harness plug into the fenderwell. If you wanted to take the time to snip and splice the wiring you could get around that, of course. I bound and tucked my engine harness along the firewall underneath that pinch weld/lip. I had no interest in taking my dash out which would've been necessary to hide it "right".

Ok cause I'm thinking about extending my mas air 8' or so and run that down the fender and drill a hole right behind the motor and run the engine harness through it

That's how I ran my engine harness and it looks clean! Also if your filling in the engine compartment you might want to save yourself some time and pick up some panels from Scott rod fab.

Your car is the reason I want to do this. It looks so clean that you almost question if the car is wired at all!!!
