I'm going to go ahead and do a motor plate in my cougar. I sort of understand it i think
The motor plate is the plate that replaces the motor mounts and attaches to the front of the motor which then attaches to the frame rails.
My questions are
1. It goes on the outside of the timing cover before the water pump is this really enough strenght? or am i just pituring it wrong?
2. Is this enough? just the plate and the cross member holding up the trans?
3. The Mid plate i take it i what's in between the motor and trans?
4. do i need a mid plate in order to run a motor plate? if so how would i be able to slide the converter all the way in? or am i suppost to shave off some of the bell?
I'm putting my benett moto in this. (going to have some serious hp)
Maybe some pics of one instaled would give me a better idea.
I just can't see the water pump/tiimng cover bolts holding this thing up. especially on a hard launch and coming down hard seems those few bolts would snap right off

Things i do have. The car is fully caged 12 point, frame is notched and tied, ladder bar.

Thanks

If you run just a motor plate you will need to keep the motor mounts also. You can eliminate the motor mounts by using a mid plate also. As far as the the converter goes, you will need to run spacers between the flex plate and bolts that are the thickness of the plate. Also you will need a pilot hub extension for the converter pilot to crankshaft, also the thickness of the midplate. Another way of doing it and the better way is to have a converter made with the intension of running a midplate. You are correct on the mounting of the motorplate.
