Need help with police, radar etc

I recently got a ticket for speeding. Yet my V-1 never went off....not even a chirp. So how did this guy bust me?? It's not like I was blatantly speeding. And he was driving in the opposite direction so if he had "instant on" radar the V-1 would have gone crazy. He wrote the actual speed on the ticket and there is a block that is titled "Detection Device" and it says 227.

Is there undetectable radar out there :dontknow:

It's simple.

Supposedly yes there is undetectable radar, BUT it's chock full o' problems. It's right once out of ever 20 tries or something like that. If you go to V1's website, they had a whole series of articles on it and how it doesn't work. I had a cop get me on my V1 once the same way. I tried to fight it, but my record was too bad and I got nailed with the ticket anyway.

Laser... :) I dont know if the V1 can pick it up or not?

The V1 detects laser. If he got him with laser, the cop would have wrote on the ticket laser.

Your fucked... Your radar/laser detector is not a calibrated piece and you have no proof. Your word against his...

but i thought that a cop couldnt get you for speedin, unless it was blatant, if he was moving. because then wouldnt his speed be in the speed that he is showing. itd combine both of your speeds. just my thoughts i could be wrong and its very possible

I will fight the ticket and was not going to use my V-1 in my defense. I just wanted to know how he got me for future reference.

nah. You go fight it and see what you get. I love my V1. well worth the price.

rader detectors are worthless, if you hear the beep, he already has you. There have been many shows/specials on radar detectors and blockers, half of them dont work for crap.

Not in the least bit true. If my radar detector beeps with a low signal, then he's far from getting me. If it says laser, then yes he has me. A radar detector isn't there to stop the police from catching you, it's to warn you that you are about to be caught.

He probably got you with a "on the go" radar system. Most scout cars now have Mobile radar units fixed right to the dashboards. There are also the stationary radar units or "guns", but it's impossible to use one of those while the scout car is in motion. My guess would be that some of these radar detectors do not pick up the signal from the mobile units, just from the "guns". But I'm not that positive on that. IF his mobile radar unit was properly caliberated, it takes into account his scout car speed, and your speed. But again, I'm not 100% sure as to the system he was using, and how sophisticated your "V1" is with picking up certain signals.

I don't know anything about the mobile units, but I do know that I am always picking up radar KA band that is on/off, on/off. It only turns on when the patrol car is near an oncoming car. Almost like the officer has a switch and is just hitting the power on his radar gun while driving. Is that possibly the mobile unit? The V1 is supposedly the best out there.

The mobile units I have experience with are on all the time. They have sensors in the front, and in the back. There is no gun, just sensors mounted that are wired to a control box. You can use that box while mobile, or as a secondary unit while stationary, there are switches on the control box for either one.......The myth that cops cannot get you while their scout car is in motion is just that, but as to what band of radar it is, I do not know.

A in car mounted radar can be used while moving. I've seen it many times with my own eyes. (on ride alongs)

It Sucks you detector didn't go off at all. Just a thought. Since the ticket mentions your radar detection device, if you end up losing the fight doesn't V-1 have a pay your ticket policy? As long as its not excessive speeding????? It might be worth checking out before you do anything.

Edit: I should have read page 2 LOL

Definitely not laser. Laser is stationary only. And 95% of the time if you are hit with laser, your done already.

Like TSHAFT said it was a fixed mobile radar system. They have one antennae in the front windshield and sometimes one in the back aswell. Most regular old K-band systems have been phased out for newer Ka superwideband digital systems. *Most* of the time the mobile systems are left on, but they have the ablility to be sneaky and leave it off and then nail you instantly. Your V1 should have gone off, there is no explanation why it didn't unless you turned that frequency off but I doubt that. There is newer radar called POP radar that is hard for detectors to detect but I highly doubt any squad car in our area has that. Usually its states like Ohio, Georgia and Florida that spend the $$$ for the absolute latest and greatest in speed detection.

Again, not sure why your V1 did not alert you, but if you got nailed by a cop with radar coming the other direction, you need to be more aware of cars on the road. Mobile radar units are almost too easy to spot if you are paying attention, its the sneaky stationary laser traps that can pick you out in traffic, and if you know where to look for them, that is easy aswell. I haven't had a detector in my car for 2 years, once you figure out how speed measurement works, you can beat it.
