I want to get a new engine for the 94 and not sure what to get? I'm looking for about 350hp at the wheels and a good amot of tq also. Can you guys recommend some combo's and/or builders so I get get this engine done.

Here are the folling parts I already have.
Performer intake
BBk 70mm TB
BBK cold air
BBK shorty headers
BBK or x-pipe
Flows
Rebuilt t-5 with wc internals
FRPP alum. driveshaft
FRPP 373 gears.

I was thinking about one of D.S.S. or CHP short blocks, but not sure if I should do these or find a local builder and have them do it. Has anyone heard of Chris Uratchko of Uratchko Racing Engines?

Let me know what you guys think I should do. Thanks, Jason D.

From what I have seen D.S.S. isn't so hot, I don't know about CHP but I haven't heard anything bad. You could also consider the Ford Racing 347, I believe it even comes with a sportsman block. Get a set of longtubes and some AFR 185's or equiv. and you should have 350-400 to the tire easy.

That ford 347 is a little out of my price range,LOL What have u heard or seen about dss? I thought they had a good product??

well I have seen a lot of people on corral complain about them and dan with the red fox GT on the board broke one of their level 20 shortblocks good for 675hp supposedly and he wasn't running anymore than that, I guess I didn't take into consideration that you aren't looking to make 500+ at the wheels and are at the limits of a 302 block. Were you looking for one of their 306 shortblocks? You could always rebuild your motor and put a nice set of heads on it, might take a little more to get the hp you are looking for.

Ok as far as the DSS level 20 blocks go.. a stock block is a stock block, putting screw core plugs and all there mumbo jumbo machining crap wont make it hold anymore power ..

If you want to build a cheap fast car.. find a used motor on corral or a track forum.. freshen it up.. and be on your way

exactly, the machining they do, is what I would have done on a race block, but no way on a stocker.

Like Derrick said though, it's still a stock block. If anything, just get a main girdle, I myself would not invest alot of time and money into a stocker. But, that's just my .02
I had a 347 with over 400 rwhp, set up for spray, but never sprayed it because I've heard the stockers will only handle 600 or so hp. I had a 2 stage set up, and decided to not even install it. Btw, the car had the shortblock in it before I bought it, I never would have put that nice of a stroker kit in the stock 2 bolt block.
