need help with leakin c4 trans

I got a c4 trans 5000 convertor trans brake deep pan and it leaks after driving for like a hour but only under high rpms like 5000 and up ain't leaking from yoke or front pump or seal any ideals and can't find a vent tube thnx guys
 
vent tube is on top of trans, needs to have a catch can on it or at high rpm's you will lose some fluid if it is not just below full
 
Yea they said some c4 didn't have vent tube Idk I don't see or feel one its a nipple with a cap but mine don't have one
 
All c-4s have a vent. 64-69 has a tube on the left side near the reverse servo cover. Its suppose to have a tube connected to it.
I'm sure you can google a picture of it.
If it had not vent, it would be hard to fill and it would push up the dip stick.
70 and up is on top of the tail housing.
Is it possible its overfilled?
It could also be foaming @ higher rpms.
 
The later model C4's had the vent in the top of the tail housing. The earlier C4's were on the driver's side by the reverse servo cover.

Some used a mushroom cap vent (That might feel like a bolt) and others used a steel line.

*I might be wrong but all transmissions have to be vented. If not they would blow seals all the time.*
 
Any C4 I ever ran would push fluid out of the vent until it got low enough to not push any more. I always ran a quart low to keep it from doing this. If you watch at the strip, almost any car with a C4 smokes on the big end.

yep mine did this, Added a TCI catch can and it look care of it. the TCI catch can is a nice piece!
 
The fix is a fancy overflow can from tci or some one else , no more running the fluid low! The only problem with that is removing the vent drilling and tapping the case for a fitting. I did mine while the transmission was getting freshened up. Had to do a little trim work on the crossmember after though due to the overflow mounting near the transmission pan.
