This is my second time replacing the starter on a 1994 Yukon. The bendix keeps turning after initial start up. I cant figure out what the problem is. Its weird because i didnt do it this morning. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I had this happen on my camaro. Is your's interfering with the flywheel while the engine is running or is just the starter motor just still running?

Honestly I fixed it by replacing the starter, but you could check to see if there is voltage on the switch terminal for the starter when this problem occours.

Is it heat related? (since you said it didnt do it this morning, im assuming the truck was cold...)

You could have...
1) A bad Starter (internal relay might be sticking)
2) Bad Ignition switch (sending power to S terminal on starter when not supposed to)
3) Short to power on the Switch terminal wire.

Im gonna go with 1 but lemme know.

good luck.

this is my third starter. they offered two different styles but the first time i went with the one that had the same(matched up) casting or opening where the gears engage. Then i started to have the same problem. The starter keeps turning after the vehicle is already started. I tried the next one that the computer pulled up for my vehicle and it had a smaller opening and it didnt require shims ..it has been running fine until now.

And no Sean, no zipper noise. I know which noise you are talking about.

Could be a bad ignition switch mechanism keeping the selenoid engaged.Especially since it has happened with more then one starter.
