Hello all.

I need some advise.

I know its long.. but any advise will help.. thanks.

I have a 2000 Mustang GT. I had back in 2010 had bought a used 3650 trans and took it to a shop to have it rebuilt because my t45 blew up. I had this shop put the best parts in this thing. Im talking the best of the best. Brass blockers, upgraded input shaft, the whole 9 yards.

Well when i first got the car back from this said shop I drove the car 1000 miles for break-in. About that time it was winter so the car went in storage. Upon bringing it out the following spring I could not get it in any gear except REV, 1st, 2nd, and 5th. The shop gladly took the car back to investigate what happened. Turns out the Royal Purple fulid we put in ate away at all the new brass parts. I did alot of research and found out RP is not good to put in the tremic trans. So he gladly rebuilds it completly again under warranty. I get the car back a month later and didnt even make it throught the 1000 break-in miles before it starts doing the same thing. He goes ahead and installed new forks, syncros, and some other stuff. Car works great for another 1000 and it starts to do it again. He gladly takes the car back in August of 2011 under warranty. He is unable to find out what is causing it. He goes as far as replacing the case. He then finds out when putting it back together that there is 2 different input shafts for that 3650. He was sent the wrong one. So he reorders a new one and puts it in. I get the car back ad the end of may this year. So he had it for 9 months.

the car has been great.. Trans has been working 100% with no complaints. I have prolly put 2500 to 3500 miles on it since may. Well a few weeks ago i noticed a few drops under the car. Its red fulid. So I know its trans fulid. Well I was driving to work today and it started doing the same thing as it did from the beginning. Just not as bad. Just poping out of third and grinding while going in.

He last time when he had it for 9 months was getting really fed up with the project. He said he didn't want to see the car back again.

I just don't know what to do. I kinda feel sorry for the guy because of the nightmare. But i don't have the money to take it else where right now. I could understand if i was out here beating on the trans and missing shifts.. But i havnt..

What should i do? take it back to this shop for another round of warranty work? or but the bullet and take it somewhere else.

Cliff notes..

-t45 blows up.
-bought a used 3650
-rebuild the 3650 with all the best parts offered
-has issues with 3rd gear and goes in to be rebuilt again
-after 1000 miles has the same issue
-guy has for 9 months to find out he had the wrong input shaft
-its doing it again.

So it has been into his shop at least 4 times for the same issue. He claims he has ordered all new part and fully rebuilt it each time. Still have the same issue.

That's a tough one. It's not like he was hiding from you. He seems like a stand up guy with all of the attempts at fixing it. It sucks for both of you. Have you taken it anywhere else or looked to see if anyone else had the same issues with their trans?

Agree'd, what does it cost to have someone else "inspect" it??
No offense, but he seems like a good guy, how often does he rebuild Tremec's, Tko's etc?

I have not wanted to take it anywhere else because he is doing it all under warranty. I've wanted to avoid the extra cost of taking it elsewhere. He even had a buddy of his who works kisler ford that works tremics come to his shop. He was unable to find anything that could be causing it.

Im scared that i will take it somewhere else.. Then they will want to charge me for a full rebuild.. and it will still do the same thing..

I just dont know what to do. Its making me seriously considering to sell the car. And I love that car. I have put so much time and money into it..

I have not. He has.. They just told him to keep replacing parts.

Also put a new cobra flywheel, spec st 2+ clutch, MGW shifter, and aluimin driveshaft, cobra carrier, moser 31 spine axles, and 4.30 gear.. I did all of that at the same time as having the 3650 rebuilt. Needless to say the car was completely different when i got it back. So i know it cant be something else causing the issues..

I was told by a few people that have mustangs that he has done work with them and was GREAT! He is even about 45 minutes away from me. I was willing to travel knowing it was the cats ass of a shop!

I didnt want to point fingers at the shop name.. but its Delle Transmission and auto repair. Located in Wauseon Ohio.

He is a really nice guy. I am no way bashing him. This is just a getting to be annoying. I dont want to say he doesnt know what he is doing.. but.. what else has it lead me to believe..

Or i just have a rare case..

Anyways.. i tried to call him. he is out of the office today. Im really afriad he is going to tell me there is nothing he can do for me. and im going to be stuck with a junk 2300 trans!

Delle only installed the trans and the clutch. Everything else was done here in toledo by myself and a buddie who knows he stuff. I know there is no issues with the rearend stuff.

Herm .. did you run it low on trans fluid?? Since it was leaking??

I've done the same with my old T5.
I'd call Tremec yourself and pick someone's brain for 10mins, and correspond with Delle Transmissions?

Well anyone know of a SUPER good shop that can take it too. To where i know they know their shit and Stand behind their work?

I do say take it somewhere else as there maybe something he is missing or doing wrong (not bashing the guy at all). I always recommend Rich Bewick - Detroit Gearbox. Expect to wait as he is usually swamped (as with any good shop) but the guy does know his shit and is very honest. Good luck

Not to mention he is a sponsor.

I don't have anything technical to add, but I've dealt with both Rich Bewick (Detroit Gearbox) as well as Libertys and they are both top notch shops.

Are you sure your clutch is adjusted right? I've seen transmissions get destroyed from the clutch not releasing all the way and them being a "lil hard" to shift as its eating itself up on every shift.

He has done all the work on the clutch and trans. So I assume he would of checked the Clutch. The clutch feels fine. Honestly even feel better then before. It was always really heavy.. This last time it feels very smooth.

Update*** I called him this morning. I feel bad because I feel I just took a shit on his day :( He wants me to have the fluid checked.. if low to top it off and drive it, it full then he wants to see it. I even offered to take it somewhere else here localy. He didnt seem to want to agree to that. He was very nice about it.
