Near Death x2 this morning

aka Johnny Rifleseed, spreading gunliness
Riding in on 94E from Southfield FWY towards downtown, a silver Fusion decided to borrow part of a the left lane occupied by a Black Trailblazer (directly in front of me). I was on full red alert as soon as the fusion crossed the line towards it and was out of the throttle applying light front brake. Fusion pushed the TB over about a foot then swerved back right into the middle lane. As they separated the left mirror and side molding came off the Fusion and pieces of black plastic broke off the TB and and came right at me. I went left to miss them, no problem there. Then the Fusion decides to pull over and exchange info on the left side of the road. There is about 1/2 car of room there. I just went around them both on the right and got out of there, must been a huge slowdown with those two stopped in the high speed lane while they chatted.

So continued on with that buttonhole punched in the Hanes :mouthshut

Move along to N-bound 75 about 9 mile. Cops had a School bus and another car pulled over on the right side. I am left lane about 1/2 mile back. Big double-gang rock hauler in the center lane ,various other cars in front of me and around the truck. Someone in a Silver Durango sees the cop late and jumps in front of the rock hauler who proceeds to lock his brakes. The back trailer starts swerving, tire/brake smoke is pouring out from under the truck. Time slowed down at about the same speed as the tire smoke cloud spread over all three lanes. It was just like that bad Tom Cruise movie Days of Thunder where he has to drive through the smoke. I was out of the gas and on the brake again way back of this, couple hundred feet but still... Slowed way down, cruised through the acrid smoke (trooper reference, lol) went past the Durango, chick on a cell phone

I need new drawers now.

Other than that it was a great day to ride to work in the 42 degree weather

Good to hear you made it! How long you going to ride this year, till it snows?

Side note: I believe there is a girl who rides a Honda Repsol 1000RR next door in the rain, cold, whatever. It's crazy.

Tomorrow might be a cage day, as long as it is >40 I ride. Got the gear to do it and the day is just plain better when I do.

That's the only reason I've never had a bike. They're really cool but too many retards out there not paying attention.

If I was you, I'd walk home today!

On second thought, you better sleep-
over at work tonight!!!

There are a lot of 'tards, especially the first incident. In the safety class I took they REALLY stressed the 2 second rule. I had just checked my time/space behind the TB at a little under 2 and backed off a smidge. Saved me from being too close to evade.

So far over 5,000 miles in heavy commuting/construction traffic since June. I would not give up the bike for anything except a faster one.

Let me know when you want to "upgrade". Come to the inline four darkside :secret:

Yikes. Good thing you made it through both OK.

German coworker of mine says they don't allow cells in any way shape or form while driving over there. Main reason being the autobahn with the high rate of speeds. I hope to make it over there one day soon.

Shame people here can't figure out how to drive and talk with out causing problems. I wouldn't be surprised if it's outlawed here soon.

That's why Blue Tooth and Sync were invented.

rode again today, only incident; got hit by a cigarette thrown out of a red pontiac Montana. :pissed:

Just another day commuting through Detroit as far as I can tell. The only thing that could have made it better is, after you successfully avoided two nearly catastrophic events, you were then swallowed up by a huge pothole...never to be seen again.

Glad you're ok.

Ya, specially if you have kids.
Too dangerous.
It's safer on a race track then the public streets.
You can only get lucky so many times... until your luck runs out.

Glad you made it out of both situations the other day. :eek5:
Sounds like you were "expecting the unexpected" +1

no balaclava?

How about seeing a spider crawling on the inside of your shield at 80mph? :eek5:

Whats your bike?

No balaclava. I've had a fly go in my helmet and try to go in my ear, boy I was trying to get off the road asap! I hate that feeling.

06 gsxr1000.
