It really pays to do your homework on these companies. Some of them
offer a lifetime warranty, yet they’ve only been in business for 5 years.
Other companies won’t list their address on their paper work. Some
companies aren’t listed or rated with the Better Business Bureau.

All the companies I contacted above are fully licensed & insured.
I would not consider “part-time roofers” or “fly-by-night roofers”.

Price was not the only factor I considered. The company, the warranty,
the company’s rating, all these things together – Mr. roof won.

I would not recommended ever calling Hansons, not just because they were
ridiculously expensive & they sent two salesmen (everyone else sent one)
but because they were very dishonest, high-pressure folks who will easily
eat up 3 ½ hours of your time!

I signed the contract with Mr. Roof to do a complete shingle removal, replace any bad
wood decking (they did, 5 sheets), install iceguard 6’ up and the remainder
underlayment was the premium synthectic. They ran starter strip the full perimeter
of the roof. They installed 1 ½ black drip edge (this looks REALLY nice with the black shingles).
They replaced the 4 existing can vents & installed 5 more new ones (total now is 9).
They finished it off with 50 year black architectural shingles (6 nails per shingle), cleaned up everything & backed
it all up with a 10 year, no cost, transferable, non-prorated material AND labor warranty.

The Mr. Roof contract was signed the night of 12-7-09 with Mr. Henry Witten . The 6 man installation team, lead by
Mr. Nelson Lopez showed up just before 8am on 12-8-09. The two roofs were completed in 27 degree temperatures by 12 noon!
They completed everything on both roofs in 4 hours!

The amazing thing isn’t simply 4 hours – these guys NEVER stopped working in that
4 hours, no “smoking breaks”, no “coffee breaks” and no “just standing around”. These guys didn’t stop working
until the job was completed. Never a foul word, never a
problem. They were all very polite, helpful & ready to do whatever I asked.

Of course I expected a professional job with courtesy & quality, but I was still surprised by the high caliber of this
teams performance. They were a standard I wish all would operate at.

Notice the grey area on the shingles? That's how far the next shingle is supposed to cover.

They also had this deal going on that if we signed for the job we'd get $1000 back if we resent this forum in one year later. We did, and they said not enough people participated in the deal so we only got $70.

They did a horrible job and screwed us over. When you look at my roof you can see that some shingles were older then other as some are lighter or darker. They broke roof vents and fixed them with black duct tape, had nails sticking up in places, and didn't know what the hell they were doing with the flashing.

I wonder if Mr. Roof contacts out jobs maybe?

Wow that does look really bad. Did you hold them to their
contract / warranty?

Did you file a complaint with the BBB?

Did it ever get fixed?

I was told today that Mr. Roof has 12 teams working.
I watched my team of 6 guys very carefully and they
did a very good job. If I have any problems I'll get
them to fix it one way or the other.

One thing about the BBB. You buy yourself into membership. They called me and wanted $400 to be listed. If you have a small company, that's a lot of money. I turned them down, so I'm probably shit now :gossip:.

Looks great 4Gas$.

My Dad had a very similar experience to what you described & very positive for Mr. Roof (as I mentioned in your previous roofing post about a month ago). They had a team of 14 (2 bosses, 12 roofers) on his roof from 7:45am - 9pm working their butts off. 48 square of their best shingles, ripped off 3 layers of old shingles, replaced 45 sheets of plywood, Thunderguard, Iceguard, 12 new cans, plus new gutters - ~$24k. Not cheap, wasn't the highest bid either, but they did an excellent job. Only complaint we could come up with (if we had to) was that they missed some nails in the lawn when cleaning up.... but it was dark by the time they finished too.

Besides price and quality, a big factor for my dad was insurance. Almost all of the companies he got bids from sub-contract out the roofing work or some aspect of it. Mr. Roof was the only one he could find where the roofers were all direct employees, the dumpster was theirs, the shingle delivery theirs, etc. etc.

We need a roof and were getting quotes earlier this year. Mr. Roof wanted between $21,000 for "50 year shingles" to 43,000 for a designer roof with all the bells and whistles. I just don't have the coin for that. I believe we have 72 square if I recall correctly. I'd love to get with a worker of one of the companies and pay to have it done "on the side". The only other quote I got was around $23,000 from a company who escapes me right now.

Any other roofing companies people have had good luck with???

The arrows point how the water flows...Is the shingles (where the Red arrow is) on back wards?
Water would seep between the shingles, right?

The BBB had non-members highly rated as well.

The thing that impressed me was Mr. Roof had like 27
complaints in the last 36 months and all 27 were resolved.

Hansons had 17 complaints in the last 36 months and 7
were unresolved - means those most likely went to court.

Looks great!

looks great gas

Thanks guys. I just wanted to share the info / research
I did on this project and I too am happy with how it turned out.
