My new bike. 2002 Harley Night Train.

This was my Dad's bike. He passed away in 2004. He was only 51. He only got to enjoy this for a few years before his untimely death. He loved this thing. He rode it any chance he could, even in the winter on dry days.
After he passed away the bike was given to my older brother since he rode at the time and I didn't. I was fine with it as long as he took care of it. He did just that and he enjoyed it a lot as well. He rode it to Sturgis back in 2006-7. He had two kids and doesn't have much time to ride it anymore so it sat for the past year with very little use.
He decided he wanted to get a bigger camper for his family and put the bike up for sale to get a down payment on the new camper. He offered it to me first but I really wasn't financially ready for another payment. I just paid off student loans and credit cards. After some debate, the wife and I thought we could swing a little monthly payment in order to keep the bike in the family.
I got it a few weeks back. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet but will this weekend. I want to keep it fairly stock, with a few upgrades.
Just took my pipes and brake lever up to QC coatings and had them redone. Thanks Bill!
Thinking of lowering it and doing new spokes and black wheels/hubs, new seat, new bars, and some minor lighting mods.
Here's a pic from today when I put the newly coated pipes back on.

Nice bike, awesome that you can keep it in the family! All the black looks great! :)

Can't say I understand you having to buy it, I guess it is what it is. :dontknow:

I got my dad's truck after he died and ended up selling it a few years later to my brother. It wasn't worth anywhere near what the bike was though.
He gave me a really good deal on it. About $4000 less than bluebook.

Thanks guys. Gonna change a few small things soon, like hand grips, footpegs, light. This winter I'm going to have the front end rebuilt and powder coat the lowers, and the wheel.

Very nice Scott. What year was that?
Here's a pic of my nightster I sold last year.

Those are Vance&Hines short shots. My dad put these on when he had the bike. I like the look of them and they aren't too loud with the baffles in them.

Looks great. Always loved the NT's. Congrats to you & the MRS for keeping it in the family. Lots to be proud of there. You gotta know POPS is smiling down on you!!

Enjoy and stay safe. Should get a ghosted pic of your POPS on the tank.

George

Thanks George! I don't have a lot of time to ride, but I'm happy it's sitting in my garage and I can take care of it and maybe ride it a few times a year.
Here's a picture of my son on it this past weekend.

I'm just glad I got it for fairly cheap. Like I said I got my dad's truck when he passed. It wasn't worth as much as the bike then and would never hold it's value like the bike would but my Mom didn't know that. She gave the bike to my brother because he was into bikes then and I was into car's.

Nice scooter. If you're looking to get a different seat, check out C&C seats, I got one from them for my '07 Superglide.. I got one with a removable backrest, and got some tribal stitching on it. Nice seats, but pricey. I got almost 700 into it with shipping.

Thanks for the link. I was looking at a Lepera seat but I'll check into this company. Looks like a lopro seat with stitching in vinyl is only around $255.
