This was my Dad's bike. He passed away in 2004. He was only 51. He only got to enjoy this for a few years before his untimely death. He loved this thing. He rode it any chance he could, even in the winter on dry days.
After he passed away the bike was given to my older brother since he rode at the time and I didn't. I was fine with it as long as he took care of it. He did just that and he enjoyed it a lot as well. He rode it to Sturgis back in 2006-7. He had two kids and doesn't have much time to ride it anymore so it sat for the past year with very little use.
He decided he wanted to get a bigger camper for his family and put the bike up for sale to get a down payment on the new camper. He offered it to me first but I really wasn't financially ready for another payment. I just paid off student loans and credit cards. After some debate, the wife and I thought we could swing a little monthly payment in order to keep the bike in the family.
I got it a few weeks back. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet but will this weekend. I want to keep it fairly stock, with a few upgrades.
Just took my pipes and brake lever up to QC coatings and had them redone. Thanks Bill!
Thinking of lowering it and doing new spokes and black wheels/hubs, new seat, new bars, and some minor lighting mods.
Here's a pic from today when I put the newly coated pipes back on.
