My HORRIBLE experience at the Detroit Auto Show!

OK, here's what happened to me tonight at the Auto Show. I thought I was in the twilight zone or something.

So, I go downstairs to look at the stuff down on the basement level of Cobo (yes, there is some stuff to see down there...) and I notice a blue 85-86 Mustang over against the wall. There is some yellow caution tape around it and a lady standing near the car. Being a Mustang fan, especially of foxbody mustangs, I walk over there, pick up some literature about this car, and begin to walk around the car and check it out.

While I'm checking the car out, I bent over to see what kind of exhaust was on the car. Now, keep in mind, there is yellow caution tape all the way around this car, and I am at least a foot away from the yellow caution tape while I am doing this.

Suddenly, the lady comes up to me and tells me that I can not look under the car. I tell her that I am just looking to see what type of exhaust is under the car and she proceeds to tell me that she doesn't care what I'm looking to see, I'm not supposed to look under this car.

I said to her, "Well ma'am, I have every right out here in this public space, outside of your yellow caution tape, to kneel down to look under your car. In fact, this is a car show, that's what people do." She replied back, "No you don't, and if you don't stop, I'm going to call security on you and have you removed from this place." At that point I said to her, "Then you're going to have to call security because I'm not going anywhere. I paid to come here tonight to look at cars and I have every right to stand here, on my head if I want to, and look at this car."

Long story short - Security came. Escorted me away. At this point my 5 year old daughter sees what's happening, and she begins to cry uncontrollably. She thinks that daddy is going to jail. I explained to them what happened and I ended up asking to talk to a supervisor. He told me that this was the second complaint they have had about her this week. I told him that he needed to do something about this matter. On my way home, he calls me and tells me that he talked with her and told her that if he gets one more complaint they will ask her to leave. I think she should be gone already.

She is with this company - www.hp2g.com
Apparently, she was concerned that I was trying to steal their secrets because their company is in a big contest to win 10million dollars in a gas mileage contest. That's fine, but if you don't want your secrets stolen, and you don't want people looking at your car, or taking pictures of it, then DON'T BRING IT TO A FREAKING CAR SHOW!!! Bring a picture of it instead!

So, if you go to the Detroit Auto Show this weekend, be sure to go downstairs and take a good look at this car (Blue Notchback with a blonde-haired woman standing next to it), while KNEELING DOWN (just don't cross the yellow tape and you are within your rights)!! If she gives you a hard time, be sure to complain to the security people and she will get herself expelled for the rest of the weekend, which is what she deserves for ruining my five-year-old daughters night.

Sorry for the rant,

Dan

I want to go there now just to piss her off!!!!!! I'd like to get about ten people (or as many as I could get) to go and neel down to look under it!!!!!! What a bitch!! (Pardon my language).

I'll make sure to give her hell while i'm there. What a bitch, as you said she should've just kept the thing out of the show. If you're going to be uptight about it keep it out. People don't pop their hoods if they don't want people to see. She's kinda cold to be like that esp. in front of your daughter!

awww damn it i was checking out that display this weekend too, if i knew she'd get all bent out of shape i'd have brought my Nikon in and laid on my stomach in front of the car .

i saw this car from a distance got closer and saw the mileage crap and first thing i thought was " damn fucking hippies ruined a sweet car" but from what i recall the stats on the car hp/tq wise were pretty impressive.

Reminds me of when they had the "Star" cars at the Henry Ford Museum. Some cars were ok to take pictures of but the others you were not allowed to for some stupid reason. Security came up to me while I was trying to take some pictures and asked me to stop. I did but came back later to snap them lol. Some people I swear. It's like you said, if you don't want people to look at / photograph your cars don't bring them to shows.

I knew you were a trouble maker...

I was told..."Don't hang out with little danny or you'll be like little danny...":) hahaha

Hilarious...:D I'm not going and this is a great reason why...haha

Im going to smuggle in a 3,000,000 candle power spotlight and a camera, lay down and spotlight the whole under carriage and start snapping pics like crazy
