I went out to Arizona for a week to visit my Dad. (he lives in Tempe) Had a good time. I rode roughly 1,500 miles in 6 days. My dad just picked up a new BMW F650gs that i did some work with, and he also has an '04 kawasaki zzr600. Anyways, while my dad was out at work i met up with some of the guys from his BMW club and they led me through some bad ass twisty mountain roads. Out there, either you get good or you get dead, not too many side rails out to catch you from falling off the mountains...anyways, just some pictures from my trip....it was 70-80 in the valley the whole time, and a few times up around 8000 ft elevation it was as low as 40 and there was still some snow.
Lake Roosevelt, a guy i met named Geoff next to me. this guy is total baller, had 20 something beemer bikes in his garage, SRT10 Ram, original slant nose porsche and just tons of crazy shit....
On my way up south mountain (it was not a huge one...)
ontop of the mountain
Overlooking the city of phoenix from atop south mountain (where i was standing when gpowrie called me "hey what's up man?"...."Not much, just standing ontop of a mountain"..."huh?"
some of the bikes i rode with friday
Stopping in a small mountain town/old mining town called Jerome
the typical road signs of a complete U-turn and a suggested speed of 10 mph, i could only do 20 through them on the BMW damn near dragging knee
more from Jerome, overlooking the sedone valley IIRC
old closed/boarded up mines
cool rod i came across
Another old Mining town, these are everywhere and after the old mines close up, the towns mostly dry up and just have dirt poor squatters, riding through the "area" i didn't get any pictures, not the kindof place i wanted to stop at to pull my camera out...anyways, town of superior the old closed up refinery
More fun twisty roads
my dad. they were dynomiting (sp?) the mountain to make a road wider so we were sitting in a small line of traffic for about a half hour...
Sunday, group of 11 of us did a huge loop
the guy who led our sunday ride had 170K miles on his 2004 FJR1300 he did a ton of those iron butt rides (1K miles in a day) radar detector, garmin GPS with weather and everything...crazy....
riding....
And OSO the long hair chihuahua. this dog is sweet.
I have more pictures on my camera. From when we rode sunday and got up so high in the mountains there was still snow on the side of the road
Oh, and one of my dad and I riding home sunday, one of the guys ahead of us got off at his exit and got us going by
