My 95 Talon gets a new fuel tank

Motown's very own village idiot!
Well since the rail is about winterized, it's time for a long awaited 2G fuel system upgrade.

Plans are:

Get rid of the 2 section stock tank with the in-tank fuel pump set-up and replace it with a 12 gallon tank from Frontline Fabrications, little did I know it would take SIX months to have my order filled.

While I was ordering parts I added his drive shaft safety loop and a rear end diff cover.

The tank comes with AN -10 supply and -8 return line fittings, vent tube with check valve in case of a roll over.....God I hope I never use this feature!

The stock tank has two fuel level sensors in it, so I found out a FWD 2G only has one level sensor that has the same ohm scale as the two for the AWD tank, so I found one of them, now I can keep my stock fuel level gauge and it should work like.............. well a stock fuel gauge.

Another nice feature is the new tank will use the factory filler neck!

I'll install an Aeromotive Eliminator fuel pump to push the stuff through the -10 hose and into the injectors then -8 for return.
Aeromotive fuel pump speed control is going in for tame city driving and longer pump life.

Two fuel filters will be installed, one before the pump another ahead of the fuel rail.

The forever to get fuel tank:

While the car is being violated, I'm going to drop the entire rear end sub assembly and replace it with a chromoly sub-frame, should be stronger and lighter than the stock stamped steel unit, est. 30lbs. weight saving after the dust settles.

Also upgrading the entire fuel system so I picked up a few goodies:

Fuel rail and Eliminator pump:

Did not like the color the fuel rail came in, so I removed the anodized red and polished the aluminum to a bright finish.
Next step is to bake some clear coat on it.

The old tank is out, along with the entire rear end sub-frame, removed the old fuel lines, filter, ect. then mocked up the new tank for a little test fit.

Damn it! Found some dirt while doing this project.

That is sick!! I did a awd swap into a spyder last year and miss it... I dumped alot of time and cash into it but it would always break lol....

Always finding the next weakest link.

These cars are not made to drag race, just joyride.
That's what the dragster is for, purpose built and easy to work on!

I hear that.. I have a back ground in fox body's, After going for a ride in a friends gsx i was hooked.. Bought a super clean gs-t spyder and awd swapped it, Ran great on the 16g i had but as soon as i went to bigger turbo and all the supporting mods it was down hill..

Finished removing the old rear sub-frame and replaced the diff. cover today.
