mustang starter problem

A while ago my car stopped showing electrical connection so i got a new battery. month later had more problems so i got a new solenoid. that lasted all of a week so i got a new one and that didnt last a day. so i took the starter off and got it checked and its fine. put that in and got a different solenoid and it started just fine all day yesterday. today i went to start it and its doing the same thing..whats happening is that after i start the car, is souns like the starter keeps turning. even after i off the ignition and pull the key out it keeps goin, and doesnt stop untill the battery is disconnected. i have a 1990 5.0 any ideas?
 
Hmm .. Sounds like it may be hooked up to the solenoid on, "key on engine off"? I'd start with that. -.-
 
When you turn on the key, its Key on engine off/koeo, second turn is key on engine on?, and the final turn is key on engine running, the last two, I may have put backwards. Anyways, you hook up almost everything to the solenoid on three bolts. Is one is referred to what I just stated.

The starter is suppose to kick on, when starting the engine, and get the power killed when the key goes back to the second click.
So basically, you can turn your lights on without the key in? That's probably how your starter has been hooked up as well.
 
put an ignition switch in...the one in the column. I bet your key is kinda hot too. My bet is that switch is bad, keeping solenoid engaged. One way to tell after starting it, pull small red wire off solenoid on fender, and noise should stop.
 
that was exactly the problem. the ignition stayed engaged. thanks for the help guys!
