ho here knows alot about them. I read the MSD site and nothing there can answer my questions.

Here's the problems.

1. Car turns over it hit's to fire but doesn't then just cranks
I noticed the LED is solid when i turn the ignition on, when i start to crank it, it goes off. I can turn the switch off to the MSD box and back on the light goes solid red and does #1 all over again.

I have checked for spark and have confirmed that the MSD box and coil are good. The Power wire is connected to the +12 of the battery, the NEG is on a body ground (which is good). All wires are brand new. I'm lost.

did the car run before the digital 6 ? first make sure all the pots (dials) are to the settings you want , also if you are using a msd distributor (sp?) you have to cut the green wire that is looped (its in the instructions) also if you are trying to start the car for the first time (new motor) turn the start retard off (one of the dial settings) it will drop timming out of the motor anything below 300 rpm. other than that I have no idea.

Also the red light should/may blink at idle anything over 2500 it should be pretty steady

yea everything is brandnew motor and all. yea i cut the green wire, The retard is built into this one, no way to dial it off.

Like i said it goes to start as soon as it hits to start it dies and just cranks.

I know I had problems with the old digital 6 boxes. Try to disconnect the digital six and see if it starts with the regular TFI system hooked up. Maybe the box itself has a problem.

I run the same also, and yes you can disable the retard the dial is called the cylinder select. Its on page 5 of the online manual in the MSD site. also I was wrong it takes out 20 degrees. Do you have the dist locked out?

JT351 if i check for spark and it did spark, it would mean both the box and coil are good correct?

Also here's another. I took the spark plug out and put it in the spark plug wire, cranked the engine, and i get no spark on the plug at all. I only get spark from doing the spark check. They are New plugs too.

as far as checking the MSD way yes if you have spark the box is fine. Now on the other hand ..if you don't have spark at the plug then maybe something is wrong with the cap or rotor???? is the dizzy magnetic pick-up wire (orange and purple I believe) plugged in and or making good contact between the box and dist?? I'm sorry for asking but you did ground the spark plug when you checked for spark???

The dizzy is new too but anything is possible. Yea all wires plugged in good all band new, no didn't ground the plug, i did the spark test with the plug and it jumped across it, so i cranked it over to see if i saw spark and nada.
I'm thinking tomorrow i just might pull the box out and start over all tho i know it's probably something stupid....
How much does the battery play into it all? When i started this, it would try to start it was at 12 volts, now after cranking for awhile I'm around 8 volts and now it doesn't even try to start just turns over.

you should have more than 8 volts tryin to diagnos this um i have had these boxes just quite for no aparent reason....???????

Im not to far from dearborn, I have a dig 6 that you can swap in to see if that fixes it or not. let me know.

I just got mine back from MSD repair...They said it's 100% perfect...

It was brand new when installed and had a BAD miss..Swap in old 6AL and it runs like a top. Hopefully it's good to go now.:( $45 charge also...

Great News!!!!!!! glad its taken care of and congrats!!!!!!

Yea thanks JT351 for all your input, it took me awhile to remeber my last car wouldn't fire either going from a 6AL to a 7AL3 until I increased the spark plug gap.
