When: Nov. 6th
Time: 10:00am - ??
Location: Lapeer Pit
It's about a 1/4 mile north of Lapeer dragway. The address for the dragway is:
2691 Roods Lake Rd
Lapeer, MI 48446
There is a very small dirt parking lot with garbage cans for your debris, and they have concrete barriers to mark the firing line and to set your stuff on. There's a big dirt mound about 80-100 yards out for rifle and a closer mound for handgun. No benches, no tables, no lights, no port-a-potty. There were also already plenty of targets downrange, but bring your own to be sure you have something to shoot at.
Rules:
1.) Be aware. As always, safety should be your #1 priority... and when you're out at an unattended range, the diligence you exercise should be proportionate to the risk you run without a set of experienced eyes constantly monitoring all shooters.
2.) Obey cease fires/call cease fires. If anyone is on range, stop shooting. If someone calls to stop shooting, you stop shooting. If you need to get out onto the range to place a target or retrieve a target, call a cease fire. Use common sense.
3.) Clean up after yourself. This means all targets that can't be reused should be removed from the range. You can opt to leave them in the trash bins, but if those are full the smartest move is to take the trash with you. Clean up your brass. Trash pickup is few and far between at this site.
4.) Shooting begins at 9 or 10am, ends at 9pm. Even though this is a remote location, there are still locals living nearby. Be considerate and don't make noise at times that wouldn't be acceptable within urban city limits.
5.) Respect your fellow shooters. Don't use your AR15 to blow up a target they just placed for handgun practice. In fact, try to lay off their targets in general- there's more than enough room for everyone to place their own targets to use.
You can rapid fire to your hearts content here, with no range officer stink eyeing you. You can bring out the heavy, barely legal armory. Tracer rounds will be applauded; armor piercing will take care of the beastly old appliances 100 yards out. If your local range frowns on the use of your +P ammo, feel free to use it here.
Everything sound good? Anyone have any questions, ask away.
