motor/trans separation question.

so i just finished pullling the motor in my ss454, with the trans attached, normally i can rotate the crank to undo the torque converter, this is not the case on this one, shattered a rod and obliterated a piston and bent the shit out of the crank, so rotating its out.

my question is, can i slide the trans off carefully with out damaging the front pump bearing on the th400?

thx, i plan on getting it mounted on the stand today so any help would be great!

yes you can, just pull it straight back without putting weight on the inputshaft/stator support of the trans.
fyi, if your engine broke under heavy power/high rpm, you converter will have its fins bent over and need repairing.
