motor swap questions '84 stang v6 to 5.0

I'm looking to do a 5.0 swap, possibly an EFI setup if i can find a dirt cheap Mark VII, but i was wondering am i going to need a different transmission, i belive its a c3 in there now.

also wondering about motor mounts, with the 3.8v6 mounts work?

c3 trans? i thought it was c5. either way im sure its not worth the shit its made out of. if you can snag a mark 7 5.0 and aod combo you would be good there. also id get urathane mounts for the 5.0 or get the convertible mounts cause they were stronger.

if you go EFI make it mass air (89-93 Mustang stuff)

C4 is what you want, not C5

convertible mounts for sure....EFI, MAF 89-93 for sure too...I dont think the Mark VII's were MAF though, not 100% on that, but pretty sure....So you'd need to get a harness and EEC from a MAF car, A9p/A9L....

I think your correct, I have never seen one, At least not thru '90

see, i don't know about that, isn't the 3.8 windsor based?

the guys on mustangforums.com wern't any help, well at least the guys in the v6 forum, its kind of like the ricer forum for mustang performance.


I really don't plan on doing this swap until i put the car up for the winter
I'm just gathering info/parts right now.

Do i have to change anything with the fuel system to do this swap?

I have a C-5 in my car with a 5.0 it has been in there for 4 years. I have to change a 2nd gear band now but that is it! Its been raced and street driven for 4 years. (more raced though)

If you're on a budget, I have some 302 mounts you can have for free. They're from an 82 GT 5.0.
