We went to Grattan Raceway this past weekend with the 3BallsRacing crew. Weather was great and the car had no issues. She was flying... literally.

Since the last event, I had the car painted and installed vents in the hood to reduce front end lift and remove hot air from under the hood.

Here's one lap of Grattan including a pretty good hit on "the jump" as seen in the photo above.

Incredible picture with the car up in the air.

What do you use to record the laps? Is that the factory PDR?

The video was done with Harry's Laptimer running on a 7" tablet in the dash. The app gets data from the OBD2 port via bluetooth and controls a GoPro camera via wifi.

Car looks good and it looks like a blast. If you don't mind a few questions. Was that a track day? Any special safety equipment or certifications? Are most of the cars driven there or trailered? Costs? Do they tolerate newbs?

Yes, this is an open track day with 3BallsRacing (www.3ballsracing.com). No special equipment is necessary other than an SA-rated helmet and a well maintained/safe car. Most vehicles are driven to the track but some of us have lost our minds and run caged racecars that can't be street driven so we trailer them in. (We actually haven't lost our minds... we realize that stuff can happen and choose to run the safest/best-prepared cars we can.)

Newbies are definitely encouraged. We break up everyone into 4 groups based on experience level, with the lowest two required to do some "classroom" learning before going out on track. We also offer instructors who may ride with you or give you a ride in their car to help you learn.

We're going back to Grattan the weekend after 4th of July if anyone is interested in participating or even just taking a ride out to spectate. Chances are if you come out to watch, someone will take you for a ride for some hot laps. If you have any more questions, ask away.

So it's strictly a track car? No night time driving

Correct. Gutted/caged = track only.

Dusty Rust-eze: Are you saying he doesn't have headlights?
Rusty Rust-eze: That's what I'm tellin' ya - it's just stickers!
Lightning McQueen: Well, you know, race cars don't need headlights, because the track is always lit.
Dusty Rust-eze: Well, so is my brother, but he still needs headlights!

Thanks for the info. Think there is something new on my "to do" list.
