So i have a hole in my block.... looking for someone to assemble the long block & degree the cams, have a machined teksid and all the parts to go forged bottom end and new b-heads to go on it. can anyone recommend a local shop that does good work at a fair price or a member that has built some modulars that works on the side or wants to make some cash?

thanks

Nick

roy is on mach1registry.com and is local. do a search for his name there. he does a few builds on the side. 810-300-4204

Alternative Auto. He has assembled multiple motors including mine and have has no issues. Hes also a sponsor here. You can PM Jay (doctor) or call and talk to lidio.

so i called livernois and the quoted me 3k-4k to assemble the long block... is that nuts? i could buy another built shortblock for that price.

not really that bad...remember...they didnt do the machining and now you want them to put it together and what not. They have to check EVERYTHING you had done vs just doing it from the start...and if there is a problem with any machining or issues with clearances. then it becomes a big freaking mess

^ Agreed. I leanred from others and let the shop that was going to tune it, assemble it and have a say in what parts were used. Basically there was a budget and a goal and I did what alternative was comfortable with from start to finish. Seems to make things go a little more smoothly then bringing a project half way through. For example say JOE builds the motor, TOM helps you put it in and HARRY is tuning it. As soon as an issue happens everyone starts pointing fingers.

With that being said, call Roy, lid and whoever else. Its a risk for the builder depending on who machined it and what parts are being used.

Didn't know he was doing any work. MMR bought the Modular Performance web name.
from what i heard he is only working with friends and short blocks...i havent talked to him in awhile but that is the rumors...he built my whole motor and couldnt be happier but i know he was retiring soon after that.

If Roy has time I would use him (since he is local and meticulous). Otherwise I would go with MMR (who I used) as that is all they do. My MMR 1500 5.4 has been a beast. You can send them what you have or just buy everything new depending on what youre building.
