mixing gas and e85 for nitrous

Is it fine to mix the two and spray?

Reason im asking is because I have a 93 octane mail order tune from VMP tuning. I know that too much timing and nitrous dont mix well so would adding a few gallons of e85 to my 93 bring up the octane enough so I could spray a 75 shot or maybe even an 100 shot until I get the car dyno tuned?

Nope. the E85 will lean you out too much. its not 1:1 with gas. If you ran straight E85, youd need to add approx 20-30% more fuel. So if you mix 50/50, youll be anywhere from 10-15% too lean. If you need to spray that bad, run some race gas or get it retuned

umm yes. thats what makes it E85 and not E100 hahaha, its 15% gas

Your regular pump gas 93 has 10% Ethanol also, so technically, everyones driving around on E10

Huh, Cause we had a car in the dealership the other week that a guy put e85 in and it wouldn't run (non equipped) and when they sucked it out of the take into a bottle it seperated.

i guess that depends what they sucked it into a bottle of. it definitely mixes with gas.

How exactly do they do a mail order tune? Should just take the car to a good shop and get it tuned on teh nitrous. When I had my 91 vert I just took it to Lideo at alternative auto. He tuned it for the nitrous I never had a problem and sprayed the fuck out of that car. Was running a 150hp dry kit on it. With an msd6al and a retard box to take out timing when I sprayed it. Best I did was an 11.90@128mph on a 1.95 60'. It didn't hook for shit pretty much had stock suspension on it never got around to finishing the suspension.

they have to mix. e85 cars run on both, you dont drain the tank

the problem with e85 like matt said is the afr ratio is diff and you need alot more of it

im runnin my bike on e85.. i had to add about 37% more fuel for it to work good. didnt afr it yet but will be someday.. im sure i can lean it out a bit more. i read something that running e85 rich doesnt really hurt much though.

i did notice a pretty big power difference (seat of pants) from going from 40% more fuel down to 37% though

Running E85 rich is as bad, if not worse than running gas rich. Ethanol has zero lubricity, and does more to wash oil off the bores than gas does. Gas has a <little> lubricity, but obviously also is a solvent for motor oil.

+37% might be about 10% fat, but it depends on what the original AFR was.

if it was separated like that, there was quite a bit of water in it, alc. absorbs water, in fact, the simple way to test alc. content is to take a measured amount of fuel, add a measured amount of water, shake, let separate, and measure the separated mixture, and subtract the amount of water added
