Milan dragway crash

I can see how that would happen so fast with zero time to react. It sounds like the throttle stuck while in reverse after a burnout.
 
Bad news all around . It was his grandfather that passed away . They suspect the blower broke causing a huge vacuum leak acting like the throttle opened
 
We were right there when it happened, My son was standing in front of the spectator side tower, my wife and I were sitting in the stands next to the spectator tower were we could keep an eye on the boy and watch some racing. It happened in the blink of eye, My wife captured part of it on video, luckily not of the person getting hit. We are still having a hard time getting that image out of our heads. It's so sad, prayers to the all that were involved.
 
Popular theory is that the blower ingested a loose bolt and put a hole in blower case causing a wide open throttle type situation. Broken blower parts were found at the scene. Just an awful, awful incident. RIP. Pic of the blower after the incident.

I've said for years that only 1 crew member should be passed the water box. All these spectators wanting to be at the line and better than half of them wouldn't be able to react in time if a car was coming at them, let alone parts from a catastrophic failure. I remember hearing about one guy needing stitches in his leg after being hit by a driveshaft yoke.
