So heres the story. My daughter was born july of 2012 and at the four month checkup it was noticed by her pediatrician that she had a case of
plagiocephaly (flatening of the rear of the skull due to tightening of the neck muscle which in turn causes the baby to keep their head tilted on way while sleeping this resulting in a flat spot). My fiancee and I immediately setup an appt at children dmc for head measurements, xray and laser dimension scan via wright and phillipis. Due to me being laid off from my job, my child was stuck with medicaid for health care. Days later we recieve a total health care card for our daughter so at this point we were confused. After a month long run around by the insurance companies, it was determined that she had total health care which was not accepted by W&P so they reffered us to another company that accepted our insurance. We went through the process and received a forming helmet about 2 months ago. Now today, we had an appt at dmc childrens again. Upon visiting the much more experienced doctor, we were told that this "helmet" is causing more problems with our childs head shape and were advised to never use the helmet again as it will cause further damage. My childs head front to back is now flatter than before the "treatment". We are now taking proper action to correctly resolve the shaping of her head. My worry is that there may be underlying damage from the improperly formed helmet. If anybody can recommend a lawyer or some type of action to take as this whole ordeal has caused a great amount of stress on our family. And I ask you all to please be respectful.
