Machine work around royal oak/dearborn

I'm curious about machine shops around royal oak/dearborn (where I work/live)...

I searched the forums and found mostly stuff out on the east side so I was wondering if people have any input on places like Kinetic (westland), Holbrook, Booth Arons, Motor City Muscle (d & s), etc??

I just need to get my SBF bored/honed, parallel decked, and internals balanced.

Any ideas?

I didn't know they were a full service machine shop. I thought they only did cylinder heads & stock type run of the mill stuff.

Yeah, I heard the guy was a tranny there. There's some place called like Janet's Closet on the side of the building that's a tranny store or something.

That right there is enough to scare me away.

Engine Shop - Royal Oak Area

Definitely Booth Arons - they can do it all and are one of only three shops in Detroit that have built actual NHRA Pro-stock engines - prices are reasonable - work is stellar - go to their website for more info www.BoothArons.net - you won't be unhappy - see Denny there.

as long as you can get past the transsexuals up front

LMAO! That blonde haired dude with the fake nails and daisy dukes. That guy always creeped me out man.

Honestly, I can't recommend national. I let them do my cylinder head on my Conquest and screwed it up pretty bad. Dropped a valve a few weeks after I got it back.

Took it to my guy at Motor City on quarry and sibley and he said they used the wrong size valve locks, and I'm lucky that only 1 valve dropped, as they were all wearing prematurely and the others would soon follow suit.

Motor city (Formerly kim and larrys on northline and allen) have always done the highest quality work. I haven't used them in years and I heard that they split up and Kim is working it alone, but aside from taking a long time to get everything done, the work was done at a reasonable price and was top notch.

National is great for parts. I had a bent valve in my LT1 and was able to go up and get a nice used one all polished up for like 10 bucks from there. But I wouldn't let them do anymore work to anything important that I put on my car.

Thompson's,kinetic, holbrook all do good work I have had work done at all 3 places and was very happy with all the work I had done
