Thinking on picking up maybe two new toys. M&P 9mm compact and the M&P 15-22 ar style 22 rifle. Anyone here had one of the other?? Any dislikes or likes. Thinking the rifle will be a fun for a backup and cheap to shoot. Plus my wife can go out with me.

Personally I'd opt for a .223/5.56 rifle over the .22. .22 can still be difficult to find. 5.56 is readily available.

Invest in a quality conversion kit then, BCG and mag swap away from a reliable 22 :) I think the one I have is a Cienier its awesome!

Thought of that but then I will still need something extra for when my wife comes out. And what I have found is the m&p 22 is better that a lot out there for a complete gun. And I can get it for like $360 out here.

I have a M&P 15-22, and i love it, for not much more than an upper conversion, you get an entire rifle, that is lighter and easier to handle for new shooters, and will save the wear/tear on your 5.56 upper. I have the threaded version, and it loves to digest all kinds of ammo with the Silencerco Sparrow attached. Next weekend it will get to try on a new Dead Air Mask for fun. I recommend grabbing one, you won't regret it.
