Is this the reason why I'm having such a hard time getting my insurance company to issue a proof of insurance for my mustang that's been in storage for 7 years?

I've had the same insurance for 7 years, it's been in a car capsule that entire time. When MI registration is due, I get the POI from my insurance company and keep my personalized plate up to date. This year, the insurance company said MI is cracking down and won't allow them to issue a POI with just storage insurance on it. So now I'm stuck giving up my plate or spending lots more on insurance

Whas good insurance these days? Agreed value?

you do know you have have them put insurance on it for a few days and then you can get the legit proof of insurance. it may cost you about 5 dollars more. its not like its going to cost you hundreds of dollars

the state really has cracked down. alot of times even if i give out a proof of insurance to a client here and they go directly to the SOS they still call and want me to fax over a copy of the POI as well just to verify.

hell i have calls from the SOS from people who photo shop and make fake ones and the sos will call to verify. not sure what happens to them after that but they dont get their tabs renewed.

Allstate, need to switch. Got this when a board member was a sponsor and never switched since it was in storage this entire time.

That's interesting, I have never heard this in 7 years. Just have always been given a POI when requested and never noticed a small jump in cost, even for the day. Now they are saying that the minimum coverage span to issue a POI is one month.

Have you tried Grundy Worldwide Insurance? Their full coverage was cheaper than my storage insurance was for one of my cars, that may solve the issue.

I got a decent amount more for mine since it was plated and timing was favorable.

The guy I sold it to got insurance without to much trouble last week, but if the news report is correct and insurance companies start cancelling policies the bottom will fall out as far as price goes.

I would have to imagine that there will be a class action law suit of some type over the converted title debacle..... The State of Michigan issued a shit ton of assembled titles which could be essentially useless soon.
