LT1 Opti-spark to LS1 ltcc conversion

Yes, I did it to my 94, it was 100% WORTH IT. I was having issues when I had a Procharger on the car with it breaking up. Current set-up spins to 7000 with no issues period. Hardest part is where to mount coil packs and how to run the wires to the plugs.

Marcus.

Agreed well worth the money.

oopps
it was a delteq. the coils mounted to the core support
yup, larry did mine for me and I had the delteq that was mounted to the bottom of the radiator shroud. I loved the system. Never had any problems other than when Id smoke a supercharger belt and itd take out all my wires...DOH

dont fuck around with just a delteq, better stuff is out there now. do the full LS1 PCM conversion and wave good-bye to the optispark, primitive tuning software, and the 7000 RPM limit. Expensive but very worth it if you arent just going to upgrade to an LS1.

The hard part will be rewiring your PCM harness.

there is a guy that posts on mifbody that has done the swap, lives in shelby. dont remember his username though.

try to remember, I never heard if this

Haven't heard of the local guy Joel speaks of, but the website is www.eficonnection.com

There was another guy on LS1tech who was making a conversion by modifying your existing opti and getting both the cam and the crank signal from the opti replacement without needing a separate crank sensor. I bought one from him, and I believe it to be the only one he did aside from the one on his own car. I think the one from eficonnection kinda stole the show because they had an actual company, and because he only had it on his own car and no one elses it wasn't considered "proven" enough for people since no one wants to do any experimenting. I'm going to use mine to run an AEM system though if my engine ever gets finished. It was pretty reasonable IMO compared to my other options, and he had a video of it running on his car, so I took the plunge and hopefully it works for what I need it for.

yea i didnt know if i was stepping on any sponsors toes, but that is where you get the kit

dave - sorry didnt mean to sound like a smart ass. but yes, the kit just became available around april if i remember correctly. I was a subscriber of their newsletter during its development.

That is pretty awesome that they did it with the late 96-97 front cover. Very interesting.

Yeah, basically put a 24X reluctor under the cover, and use the 96-97 CKP sensor to read it.

It's pretty slick, but a lot of $$ and lots of rewiring. I suppose if you have a ton of $$ into your LTx combo, it's cheaper than going LSx..
