ls swap in nova

Thanks for all the info Mike............when will your carbed motor be running and what are you putting it in ??

When will the motor be running? That depends on when I finally decide on what I am going to put together. :)
What is it going in? That depends too..

2 paths.
1 - LS2 block, LS7 crank and rods, Forged pistons set up for LS7 crank/rods. CNC ported L92 heads and a carb intake... or
2- 5.3L block, 5.3L rods and pistons, LS2 heads. Or if I find a good 6.0 iron block I can go that route.
What it's going in? Thinking my 53 F100.. using the dizzy front drive and putting Ford valve covers on it. Because I have LS2 and L92 heads, I have not pulled the trigger on an intake yet.
Just not sure yet. Still need to get the truck back over to my house and put a rear suspension in it. Then.... probably run it on the 302/T5 setup it already has. That combo has maybe 500 miles on it, but it's been sitting 9 years.

If the right price on a nice 94-96 Impala comes my way, or a clean 77-79 Impala Coupe falls into my hands, everything changes. 402 becomes EFI, 5.3L goes into the 94 Silvy...

I don't f'in know. All I have time for these days is finding parts, it would be nice to find the time to screw a motor together.

so I've been looking around for a 5.3 for my project nova

What are you doing with the car? Cruising, weekend driver/daily driver in nice weather or strictly drag racing?
What transmission do you plan on running?
I get many customers doing LS swaps in old cars for weekend drivers/cruisers. All the carbs run like shit and the FI ones all run fantastic, with or without superchargers. Howell engineering sells packages for ls swaps with 4l60e or 4l80e transmission, with basic performance tuning.
I know it all in who's doing the tuning, whether its a carb or programing....but the driveability of all of the injected ones I have seen have been incredible.

I picked up a iron headed 6.0 complete pull with harness and pcm, I have a 4l80e I'm gonna put behind it. Then I picked up a z06 cam and 5.3 heads for nothing so im gonna put that stuff on it. I plan on keeping the efi. I was looking at the dynatech swap headers I think im gonna go with those. I hope for around 425hp

Cool Deal......hey your parts should be shipping in soon from scotts. I will let you know once I get them.

its a 99 lq4 with the longer crank so i can run a older 4l80e ... which i have a 04 4l80e so i might try and pick up a older one, and keep the 04 for another project, and the z06 cam is a 02-04
