LQ4 or LQ9 with boost?

I've read conflicting articles, but basicly I've found the lq9 is higher in compression but people put a set of l92 heads to lower the comp?

Either short block will be recieving arp hardware along with forged rods/pistons, just want to know which is the best to go with for a turbo application

Also will a built 4l80e handle this application

Thanks

05 lq4 has the same heads crank and rods just different pistons. The earlier lq4 has a different crank on it that caused issued when mounted to earlier A4 and M6 trannys. Lq9 ran the 317 heads while earlier lq4s were iron and some were alluminum heads. All in all the block it's self is the same from what I could find. I would go with a lq9 and put good bolts in it with a nice set of pistons an do some head work and maybe a cam depending on what Ur power plans are. Sounds like they have descent crank and rods from the factory.

I plan on going 100% turbo with an auto trans, street driven with atleast 700+

I was thinking an LQ4 with a 76mm

What the hell are you doing now? Text me if you want.

Well basically the used car market sucks right now, there isn't shit worth buying so I'm gonna pick up a cheap roller and throw this shit together real fast

I regret selling my notch and now I need something that can compare in power or I won't be happy lol

Yeah thats what I figured but I didn't know if there is a difference in the cranks or which heads would be the best

Lq4 from 05 and up have the same rods and crank just half point lower compression.
04 and down have a weird flange on the end of the crank that causes issues with certain trannys I thought it said.
So yea if u get a 05 and up lq4 u have the same block, rods, crank, heads and cam.
Only difference in 05 an up lq4 an lq9 is 20-25 hp an 9.5:1 vs 10:1
Hope that helps

if u want a budget build get some 317 heads, can be found for around 250 to 300 and will lower the compression.
