Looking for wall cabinets

Looking for 30 wide x 30 tall wall cabinets, and I can also work with 36x 30 tall. Wood or steel, not picky. Just need them for a shop storage project.

I was in the market for some garage cabinets, for the price of anything new the extra money is well spend on the Gladiator/Craftsman or Kobalt brands.

I priced out some cheaper wood cabinets as well, add the cost to beef them up to hold paint/ parts/ etc and it wasn't worth the trouble.

I looked on Craigslist but everyone things their stuff is gold. Not much money to be saved and it was hard to find a matching set.

Have you looked into constructing your own with 2x4s (or 4x4s) and plywood? It would be the cheapest route and one of the sturdiest as well.

I'm going back and forth on using cabinets. I'm making a lower storage area for my table saw. I'd take the legs off my saw and set it on top.

The 2 30" cabinets would be arranged back to back and open to the sides. The backs would be about 2' apart, and the center section would be fabricated out of 2x4. This structure will take the weight of the saw and I'll hang the cabinets off it as well. The center section would have 2 doors and I'd put my compound sliding saw in there. The cabinets would hold my orbital Sanders, extension cords and circular saw, router etc.. with room for screws etc. The tops of the cabinets would be "shelves" to hold metal saw horses and rollie stand things.. I have a base with locking feet for when the saw is in use.

Buying cabinets cuts the build time significantly, and cheap used cabinets are Utopia. I did check CL and agree with your pricing opinion.

Yep they usually have a bunch of mismatched old ugly stuff for really cheap. Perfect for the garage or shed...or other projects!

I bought an old single real oak cabinet there for $20. Cut it up and built a nail polish cabinet for my wife. Made risers for each shelf too. LOL

It's nicer quality than the rest of the bathroom cabinets!

I was looking at $100+ for stuff that's much lower quality at the local home improvement stores.
And I was afraid to cut up the stapled together particle board junk without destroying them.

The steels would go nice with the others I already have, but I don't have wall space for all of those. Somebody should grab them though.

I ended up going the Habitat for Humanity route. I got 2 -36" cabinets for $60. One of the uppers was a "matched" set, and I had to buy the lower with it. The lady calling the shots would not budge on selling them as a pair, even though they were obviously not the exact same style. Ingot tired of messing around and bought it. I dragged the uppers home, they both fit in my 2016 Malibu, and I probably won't go back for the lower unless I find a pickup to use.
